Are human beings meant to be monogamous?
Are human beings meant to be monogamous?
No.
If you’re posting this and you’re in a relationship, do this person a favor and leave him or her. You posting this just means you are still looking and curious of others. It’s not fair for the other person.
Why do you care? You’re a dinosaur! But yo, these dayz, if you got one, be happy. A lot of them beecchheess and jerks out there tryna be swingers and sshheeezzz... you don’t wanna get coottiieeezzz!
Some societies are monogamous. Some are serially monogamous with relationships lasting a decade or so. Some are very open/polyamorous. Polygamy is quite common historically(speaking specifically of polygyny although there are rare cases of the opposite).
Historically speaking its impossible to say what humans are "supposed" to be as there are so many structures.
Find what works for you. For me personally, I'll be with my girl for life and wouldn't want it any other way.
Yes we are meant to just be with one person, our soulmate. That is what God wants from us. You can't go around tainting yourself and any partner you are with. Nobody should have to touch someone if they have already been touched by someone else. It is immoral and disrespectful. It just causes an anarchist society full of debauchery, but I guess that is what the liberals want because they don't really care about what happens to society despite their claims.
Biologically speaking, yes, that's how it tends to work out.
A woman can have multiple men in the long-term only if most of them are dumb enough to waste their genetic destiny raising children that probably aren't theirs. And the population with such a custom has a very low birth rate with each man waiting 9 months for his next chance.
A man, on the other hand, can benefit from having multiple women, but only if he can provide for and protect them all. A man with four wives has three other men trying to take away the extras, and no man can defend against a 3 to 1 attack without living in a heavily structured society and being very wealthy.
Some societies allow this, but the three other guys rebel and force a revolution to ban the practice. Currently polygamy is allowed in very few places steeped in ancient traditions.

Humans aren't "meant" to do anything, unless you believe in religion. Most religions advocate monogamy. Further, monogamy makes sense because it helps for 2 parents to raise children. Children take at least 18 years to develop.

I'm neither an atheist nor leftist, but "That is what God wants from us" is an argument of faith (i.e. not reason) that presupposes especial knowledge of the will of such a being. The entire idea behind faith is that it deals with questions not (yet) answerable by the scientific method or logical reasoning.

Only those that wish to be successful. The statistics linking poverty and illegitimacy are pretty telling. Your evolution may be telling you one thing, and that probably worked fine when our life expectancy was 35 years. Now that we are tasked with living to 90, it doesn’t work so well.
No way. Every guy with normal testosterone thinks about banging lots of women. The only reason they don't is because they are ugly or they choose not to for moral reasons. If you take away the religious morals we would be like dolphins -- having sex with whoever we wanted whenever we wanted.

Sorry dude, but you don't speak for me.
Try speaking for yourself. You are reasonably qualified to do that.
One relationship can be enough of a headache. Why have more? It’s a good question though.

Keeping yourself pure for that special one are ya?
No.
We are animals with complex brains. We want to make love and act like wild animals but our brains get in the way. In my opinion, a very small percentage of ppl in relationships are content being monogamous, the rest are lying / deceiving themselves/settling.
Relationships breed misery.
Did you stop reading after the Fifth Commandment?
