Over the winter of 2017-18 I worked with a PT to fix my mechanics mainly relating to cadence, crossover and hip weakness. During this time he also tried to move me to a forefoot striker from a mid-heel strike but I found it too much to do all at once given I was also recovering from an Achilles tear and the calf was too weak to run more than a mile at a time with forefoot striking.
I have a HM this weekend and then a 10K on Memorial day but then have no races planned over the summer and was hoping to use this time to transition to forefoot striking.
Has anyone done this on their own or worked with a PT to accomplish this?
I assume much like the cadence work I just need to gradually work towards it but wanted to see if anyone else has accomplished this. My left calf is still incredibly weak from my Achilles tear and the hope is this will assist in building back some strength as well.
