Own a home in Boston suburbs. Busy street, renters on 1 side, never spoken to don't even know their names. Other side, older couple spoke a few times, but probably not in over a year.

If rioting happened . I would take out both my neighbours , then take their food .
I live in an apartment complex. No neighbor above or to the right. I know the guys below because I work with them. Across the hall is guys, but we've never exchanged a single word. To my left I honestly don't even know if it's guys or gals because I've never seen anyone enter of leave, only that someone definitely lives there.

What sort of a place do you live where people have '"car trouble"?
Anyone can have car troubles, problem is wusses like you don’t know how to handle them.

Pretty rare these days. I don't think I opened the hood of my car until it was 15 years old and had 150K+ miles on it.

because your dad or someone else used to do it for you.

No, because my car did not break down or have any troubles until then.

my dad bought us new cars so we wouldn't have car trouble. me and my brother didn't like taking to kids with old cars. they were usually from disfunctional families.
No neighbor on one side. Nutty but friendly neighbor on other side. Once told me he swam 5 miles a day. Older guy probably on disability for years. Works on mowers for spending money.
I try to stay away from my neighbors. They have a full grown (physically, if not mentally) son who lives with them. Dude just hangs out at home all day every day. When I run by, he shouts at me that I am a "twink." When my considerably more buff brother comes by, the dude rambles about his "3D shoulders" and tells him that he doesn't count. The guy also claims that he is "sexy," but I've never seen a female other than his mom enter the home. Truly strange family.
I talked with my old neighbor some. He was french and always needed to borrow my wine opener. We also happened to be in the gym at the same time a lot.
Occasionally, when we cross paths. I wish I had more in common with them. I'm in an area where prices are increasing rapidly. The newcomers are all paying ~$700-$1M for houses that the long-termers paid
Only 1 neighbor & that's mostly when we meet when shoveling the sidewalk in the morning before work. The conversation is mostly complaining that it's snowing yet again.

Really? I check fluids under the hood at least once a month. Levels can drop pretty quickly. I just had to add coolant to my Rav 4 a few days ago because it was well below the low level. Toyota's also have a well known problem where they will quickly consume a large amount of oil, & if you're not checking regularly it could cause severe engine damage.

So you own a private spot in the middle of govt property, or on a private island? Everybody has neighbors.

What if you have a penthouse apartment where the floor below is non-residential? No neighbors above, below, or on any side.

The place where most people have car trouble is Earth. You ever been there?

Of course I talk to my neighbors...You're safer as a community if you know them.
Yeah, for sure. Not only the next-door neighbors, but my wife and I know almost every person by name on both sides of our street. We live at the end of a cul de sac, so everyone's kids play and go to school together, we help each other shovel snow or "work on the car" (which is code for drink beer in the garage), and we watch out for the older neighbors and the kids. No one here is rich, and we all have our problems and different life experiences, but there's a very real sense of community and respect for each other. I don't know if a town one hour northwest of Chicago counts as "flyover country," but I wouldn't trade this street or my neighbors for anything.
