It's also not the fastest 400 on American soil like some are claiming. Michael Johnson's 43.44 from the '96 Atlanta Olympic Trials is.

Michael is not a college kid. He is a pro running for Nike. And he is 21.
I know M.N. races for Nike. I know M.N. is not a college athlete. Don't act as if Nike does not have a history of ruining athletes. Nike has peaked Norman for April. Don't act as if Nike plans on Norman racing 42.25 in September as part of a grand plan.

He is 21. A kid? Nope, your are wrong three times.

Johnson's Atlanta winning time was 43.49.
See page 73 (PDF p. 88).

Big things weee being predicted for MN and he has delivered, but I kind of agree that it might be too much, too early. But then again, the RSA guys have tons of fast early season meets down there.
Speaking of which, any WVN sightings at Potchefstroom, etc?
Any interviews with MN after the race?

Yes, but it was 43.44 in the Olympic Trials

Fastest on US soil that has a hope in hell of being clean.
What a huge 400m year. Gardiner looked great in the 200m in Grenada at an easy 20.04

In the video, Rai Benjamin looked good. He was close to Norman with some 80m to go. He just did not have the end of race stamina that Norman had. Norman is simply on another 400m planet.

Nah, but my coach does.

A very small world. He's already better than WVN's 2nd best time.

..
It's not "early season" down there.
That is correct MJ 43:44 FTW in the finals at the 96 OT trials....
Japanese guy go fast!
Yes malmo, I know. It is early season in track.
I think the comparison is apt. Neither is it early down there, nor is it in the NCAA...and WVN has been able to do well late in the season, on a southern schedule, so why not MN?
Anybody have splits for MN in this race? Very impressive

Van Niekerk has run a 400 this season. 47.28 back in lateFebruary.
https://www.bbc.com/sport/athletics/47361019He's short. WVN is tall. WVN will keep the record.

Who's short? MN? Norman is a really big guy.
Michael Norman is not the new Jeremy Wariner. Michael Norman is not the new Wayde. Michael Norman is not the new Michael Johnson. Michael Norman is the new and improved Usain Bolt that we asked for, but do not deserve. Enjoy the show!

Good. Then he only looked short next to the 6'7" giant in lane 3 and the 6'5" mini-giant in lane 5.
In that case, short sprinters are still on the way out! Soon it's gonna be 6 footers across the board.

The reality is, there's nothing wrong with saying that.

Fair enough too.
