Our track coach took another position 2 weeks ago and left me holding the bag. I'm only supposed to be the volunteer assistant.
At our district meet last week our triple jumper strained her quad. She's also a leg on all 3 relays.
I'm not sure she'll be able to run them by the next meet this coming Friday. Her quad is actually so swollen they couldn't get a clear MRI. I found "okay" replacements in the 2 sprint relays.
The mile relay is where I got stuck... I have a returning state contender in the 16/32 combo but she's been battling anemia. I wanted to fill her in for our relay temporarily. She'd have the 3200, relay prelims (Friday), 1600, relay finals (Saturday).
Only 2 advance in each race and it's always a battle to the end in that 1600. The next option is 4 seconds slower than her.
Would you put her in it and hope for the best or not risk her on a race that isn't likely to advance?
She's currently ranked 2nd in the 3200, 1st in the mile in the region. Our 4x400 was ranked 5th with the original girl.
