I'm 2 weeks out from a marathon (sub 2:50 attempt).
Pfitz calls for an 8-10k 'tune up race' aka tempo with 10 mi total, and 17mi Sunday.
Any reason why I can't combine this? is that better or worse to run like a 20 miler, 10 at easy (7:00), 10 @ threshold (6:00). Or is that way too hard for 2 weeks out?
I have more freedom to run long tomorrow than Sunday.
Doing this in reverse okay too?
If you don't have a race set up to do. Just do something like 3-4 miles easy + 6 miles @ half marathon pace + 3-4 miles easy and do 10 easy the next day.

Pfitzinger's "tune-up races" are meant to be full-effort races, which are harder efforts than "tempo" runs.
You can do as you say, and I'm sure you'll do fine on race day. But it's a pretty significant deviation the Pfitzinger plan.

Thanks - I ended up running 10mi as 2mi w/u, 10k in 35:25, 2mi, c/d. Will do the LR tomorrow and just start earlier.

Thanks that's encouraging. I've peaked at 70 miles, and this week will be around 65. This was supposed to be a get back into marathon type training for the fall to attempt sub 2:50 but maybe with the right training (say 85 peak) and staying injury free I can be a bit faster.
I don't want to jinx myself so I'll just stay calm and run easy tomorrow then enjoy the taper.
Run easy meaning easy pace for the LR.

Congrats on the 10K this morning. Nicely done. Sub-2:50 certainly looks to be in the cards in two weeks. 2:45, even, if conditions are good. Enjoy an easy-pace 17-miler tomorrow, and best wishes in your marathon. And this fall? Well, stay healthy, and who knows!
