I believe that I was once an above average highschool runner, however I am fresh off of a 4 Month hiatus- can I run a sub 5 mile 3 weeks from now?
here are the details:
I ran 4:26, 9:26, and 15:23 (xc) junior year, then had post tib problems all throughout the summer and fall senior year so I underperformed during cross, then got an mri which showed a partial tear of the post tib tendon so I’ve completely missed track. I took 4 months completely off from running and all cross training, went from 132lb to 146 lb , and began a run/walk program at the beginning of March, now I am up to doing 3 and 4 mile runs daily- all slow and easy around 7:30 pace. In 3 weeks, all of the freshman on my team are doing a time trial to break 5 in the mile for the first time and I’m going to jump in it. Between now and then i will be doing more of the same- just slowly increasing miles to doing 4 And 5 every day- all easy runs and probably no strides yet. My weight is currently back down to around 140lb.
