Hey guys I’m a freshman ran 350 miles at about 40 mpw this winter
Now I’m 4 meets into the track season and these are my prs so far
Mile: 5:00
2 mile: 10:50
800: 2:17 in relay split
400: 59
I feel really strong and I have been hitting all my times in workouts until today. This is how my week went
Monday: 4 miles +strides
Tuesday: 10:50 3200 2:17 800
Wednesday: felt pretty good ran 5 miles with my dad
Thursday: ran 5 but didn’t feel great I was tired out and my legs were getting tired running at a normally super easy running pace
Today: was going to do a 6x800 workout at 5k pace with a 200 jog rest , I felt noticeably tired out after the first lap and I barely ran 5k pace after that it kept getting slower I think my 3rd one was 2:58!!!! Which is super slow, my coach checked my heart rate and it was 160-170 after my jog and he told me to do one more and skip the last 2 I went hard and barely hit the goal pace and then that was the end of my workout. Obviously that’s not how I wanted it go.
These are possible thing that are making me not be able to run as fast:
- dehydration I haven’t been drinking as much these last couple days after the meet and This is probably the most likely
- lack of sleep, we have had school off half this week so I’ve been staying up later than normal and haven’t been getting good sleep
- burned out ? I highly doubt this as I haven’t been running very challenging mileage but maybe after my 2 mile I’m tired out ?
I don’t have a great answer but would like to see what you guys think just to see what I should do as I’m desperate to feel better
