I'm just glad it has the word "project".

i don't get it
Hoka Cheaterflys?
based on who is featured in that video, I'm guessing that Hoka is putting on a time trial of some sort, with a new shoe. basically a sub-2 reboot but with a road or track ultramarathon.
Breaking 2:13 brought to you by Hoka
Is anyone else outraged that professional MUT runner, Hoka Pro and letsrun contributor Sage Canaday wasn't featured?
Just watched the video. Interesting they don't show the shoes or lower legs in general, at all.
All of the wording of the athletes is very vague and makes it seem like something huge among runners.
Of course, it's all to keep you intrigued for the next video/eventually finding out what the "project" is....which leads me to believe it will be something like a new shoe or something.

I mean, Fauble just ran 2:09:09 in Hokas, which is the second fastest time for an American in nearly a decade...

Wow, um, I didn't even realize that. Thanks for blowing my mind.

5 years is not nearly a decade.
Serious question...how easy is it for a moderately talented marathoner (I've run 2:21) to excel at ultra running. Outside of Walmsley, none of these guys who are sponsored by Hoka have run anything that impressive...just long and semi-fast. How easy would it be to get a sponsorship as an ultrarunner, and how much does anyone think Hoka pays these guys? I have a hard time believing its anywhere close to how much they pay the runners on NAZ elite, but maybe they do since Hoka is more of a trail shoe company. Waridian doesn't even run that fast anymore and probably just rakes in a ton of cash from his day job as a shipbroker. I can't be the only one who thinks it wouldn't be that difficult to move to Flagstaff and start running ultras as a "pro" athlete. If you win a few, post a ton on social media and are slightly good looking, will you get a sponsorship?
Sage has run 2:16'.
If you look closely he was running in a HOKA 4% prototype so did Ward running in a Saucony 4% prototype....the technology is not that advance and can be reproduce + refined to produce greater gains of 6%.....2:11-2:12 becomes a 2:08-2:09 etc.
That was good. Sometimes the toxic nature of this board taking shots at some of our "semi" elites is pretty funny.
THANK YOU.
I'm about the same level as you and I get beat on the trails pretty often in Colorado. I've won some races but It's not like i'm running anywhere near Jim's level. It's very different.

It’s not a prototype. They’re called the Hoka Evo Carbon Rocket. You can buy them online for $160.

And Cam Levins ran a 2:09:24 in them last year.

Lol this - not one product shot. They went out of their way to avoid. Then put the runners in some typical stock photo type positions showing fatigue.
If any athlete were truly serious they'd just get Nikes. It's been proven that the 4% DOES NOT COME FROM THE CARBON plate but the foam. Either people are still just too f'd to realize this or really that dumb.
Are they so desperate for a mediocre grinder lifestyle that they won't just buy nikes like everyone else, marry someone with some money to support their lifestyle and actually attempt to win a race?

Nope, it's a new shoe.... just wait and see....
Such an empty and meaningless video. I wanna be like them so I have to buy the shoes. Don't even need to see what they look like.
