    From the Eliud Kipchoge training log thread:

    Tue, 16.04.2019

    AM Track: 3km warm-up(15min) + 10x1k w/1' recovery + 3km cool-down(15min) . Total : 18km in 1h07min

    Splits: 2'43 / 2'45 / 2'46 / 2'43 / 2'42 / 2'42 / 2'44 / 2'44 / 2'40 / 2'39

    1' recovery after each km repetition (around 200m each time)

    PM : Rest

    ------------------------------

    Day's total 18km, altitude 2200m . Weather : AM +17C, partly cloudy

    12 days to go! World record shape?

    This is the classic 1000m CV repeats with 200m jog that Tinman prescribes. The pace is slightly faster than CV but the volume is correct for an athlete of his ability. Kipchoge and his coach know how to stimulate the aerobic system before the big race. Good luck in London Eliud!

    Yeah, because tinman invented doing km reps w/ 1 minute recovery.

    I love Tinman and root for his guys, but this is 100% accurate. K repeats are not specific to CV training; everyone does them!

    Good workout for Kipchoge. Is he in or near WR shape? Sure. I think he has been for the past 5 years. Who knows what will happen on race day though. This is about all we do know: Kipchoge 2:01-2:04 FTW.

    Kipchoge precedes Tinman.

    Remember, Tinman is a high school coach that now coaches professionally because his best high school kid became professional.

    I have a running training book written by Anders Gärderud in the 1980s, where he prescribes km repeats at around 10k pace with 1 minute jog rest. I pretty sure tinman wasn´t around to teach Gärderud about training back then.
