Ok so here’s the tea. I wanna run track for a half decent university. I fully understand I am not currently fast enough to run D1 or even D2 at the moment. After emailing the coach of the university I would like to attend for academics, I was told I could most likely walk on if I dip under 1:58 for 800. Here’s my problem:
I have a 2:12 open and a 2:09 medley split.
400 is a 56.5 (standing start haha)
And 1600 is a 4:57 (I HATE IT)
Cross Country was averaging around 17:45 last year with a PR of 17:27.
I’m a junior hitting 30-35 mpw if even that, cause I’ve just been doing the workouts at official practice. I plan on hiking my miles way up in the summer though.
Does hitting that 1:58 seem remotely possible by next season? The times I have produced thus far are pre-taper so I believe I can shave at least a second or two off by the end of this season.
Any advice/specific workouts I can hit to try and hit that mark?
