Last Saturday, CJ Albertson won $7,000 for setting a new indoor marathon WR of 2:17:59.4 (Stephanie Pezullo won the women's race in 2:42:11.3). He picked up $7,000 for this efforts ($3,000 for the win and $4,000 for the record was 2:19:02).
When I saw how much he won, I thought, "$7,000 is a lot for a lot for many of the African athletes. What if they moved the race to the Saturday after the Boston marathon - how fast could an elite double back and run it five days after Boston?"
I imagine a top 5 guy in Boston wouldn't see the need. BUt what about someone like Eritrea's Daniel Mesfun (2:10:06 pb). He only won $1,700 for finishing 14th in 2:13:05. Could he double back and run under 2:17:59 5 days later?
Maybe Yuki would do it as well?
