Hoping that any two of Ashete Bekere, Burka, and Jemeli may be among the ‘famous four’ running Berlin. Or even Birhane Dibaba after she tore up Copenhagen. I have been bugging the organisers to tell me but all I get is:”elite list not finalised”. Twelve days!
Seems to me that Berlin organizers are embarrassed by the relatively weak field they’ve managed to enlist, or they’d have released more info.
The next few weeks are going to be insane for elite marathoning. Berlin 9/29, WCs 9/29, Chicago 10/13, and the Ineos 1:59 event between 10/12 & 10/20.
I’ve always rooted for Kipchoge to this point, but I’ve finally just grown tired of him dominating and would kind of like to see him fail in Vienna and start to show just a little age. To his credit, it took 5 years for me to tire of his dominance, whereas I was rooting wholeheartedly for Farah to lose by 2013 (and still am).
I like your predictions on the men’s side, which I feel most familiar with. I like Geremew as much as anyone as the next big thing—though WCs may be a different ballgame and a total crapshoot if it’s brutally hot.
Here’s my honest feeling on the likelihood of the following athletes winning in Chicago.
Mo Farah 33%
Lawrence Cherono 31%
Getaneh Molla 17%
Kenneth Kipkemoi 7%
Bedan Karoki 4%
Dickson Chumba 3%
Herpasa Negasa 2%
Galen Rupp 2%
Hassan El Abbassi 1%
