Ok, so they both ran Dubai in 2:04-low 15 months ago. Tola 3rd, advantage Tola. Legese was 10th in Chicago in 2:08:41, Tola was 4th in New York in 2:08:30–advantage Tola. Then Legese posted the best result of either of them in the past 2 years to win Tokyo in 2:04:48 just 6 weeks ago and made their 2018 comparison much less meaningful.
9 days until London.
Appreciate your input Aussiestatman, and you’ll have plenty of chances to say “I told you so” if you stay tuned.
For me, right now, before London, I rank it this way:
Kipchoge
Kitata
Cherono
Leule Gebrselassie
Desisa
Farah
Geremew
Kipkemoi
Kipserem
Tola
With that, I think Leule, Farah, and Geremew are competing Sunday for 3rd to 5th. Then Tola, Wasihun, Kipsang, and Kiptum are up for 6th to 9th. Depending on those results, any of them could move up or down by next week.
So wasihun comes in for tola, but how far? It’s all about the second best run they have done in the last 16 months.
What about the women now?
Kosgei, Cheruiyot, dereje(she surprised), who next?

I'm worried that he hasn't responded.
R.I.P. OP?
He is trying to figure out how to keep Farah in the top 10, but he's just afraid that now he'll look even more like a fool for that than he already was.

Funny but Farah surely is still lower half of the ten?
1. Eliud Kipchoge
2. Lawrence Cherono
3. Mosinet Geremew
4. Lelisa Desisa
5. Mule Wasihun
6. Shura Kitata
7. Getaneh Molla
8. Marius Kipserem
9. Mo Farah
10. Birhanu Legese
I'd like to know what the clean list is.

I HATE Mo Farah. I was hoping he’d perform worse than he did on Sunday. But his 2018 record of losing only to Kipchoge and Kitata and beating Cherono, Geremew, Kipkemoi, Rupp, G. Kirui etc. was worth a top-5 ranking.

These are my “power rankings” for the top-10 marathoners in the world. I believe they are more accurate than the IAAF rankings.
1. Eliud Kipchoge
2. Lawrence Cherono
3. Mo Farah
4. Shura Kitata
5. Mosinet Geremew
6. Lelisa Desisa
7. Leule Gebrsellassie
8. Getaneh Molla
9. Marius Kipserem
10. Birhanu Legese

Next up, my #s 1, 3, 4, 5 & 7 will clash in London. Wilson Kipsang, Tamirat Tola, Mule Wasihun, Daniel Wanjiru & Abraham Kiptum will look to crack my list.
1. Eliud Kipchoge
2. Mosinet Geremew
3. Lawrence Cherono
4.. Titus Ekiru
5.. Marius Kipserem
6. Lelisa Desisa
7. Mule Wasihun
8. Getaneh Mola
9. Herpana Negasa
10. Vincent Kipchumba
11. Mo Farah
12. Kenneth Kipkemoi
This is hard.
Ladies.
This will be surprise many but the best lady is someone who is not in many people's radar.
Here are my top ten ladies as of now.
Top four in order
1. Ruth Chepng'etich
2. Brigid Kosgei
3. Vivian Cheruiyot
4. Worknesh Degefa
--------------------------------------------
The rest in no particular order
5. Reza Dereje
6. Mary Keitany
7. Gladys Cherono
8.
So far, it's not easy to list the top ten but the top four are more or less the way I listed them.
I'd take Vincent Kipchumba off that list. He doesn't belong.

You people sure put a lot of weight on Farah beating Rupp in Chicago yet you know damn well Rupp was injured. Why is that?
Titus ekiru, dnf in his only major, don’t you think number 4 should have a better head to head with other top tenners?
Titus Ekiru dnf'ed in Chicago because he was the lead pacer there!
So undefeated in all his marathons after his first, who won Casablanca, he has a claim to fame

Ruth and Worknesh still need to be tested by competing with others in the top ten, like how dereje proved herself in London

Look for people running the same times from the 70s and 80s. My guess, in no particular order:
Jared Ward
Koen Naert
Callum Hawkins
Kenji YAMAMOTO
Kohei FUTAOKA
Scott FAUBLE
Kohei FUTAOKA
Yuki KAWAUCHI
Ryo HASIMOTO
Yuji IWATA
