Need some help on this one
Last Thursday I went for a 7 mile run that was very downhill. Felt okay after the run. On Friday I went out for a 12 mile run, but about 7.5 miles in my right quad got very tight. The pain was in my hip, adductor, and down my leg. It was if I could no longer pick my right leg up to run. I ended up hobbling back home and not finishing my run. I foam rolled, stretched and iced after. Took Saturday off. On Sunday I made it about 3 miles into my long (first 3 miles went fine) but then went down a very small hill and had the same thing happen to my right leg. It got very tight and my leg refused to operate in a normal running motion. So once again I hobbled home. Took Monday off. Yesterday I had the same thing happen. First 3 miles went just fine, then once again I went down a very slight hill and had my leg tighten up again to the point that I had to hobble home.
I don't think that I am injured or hurt bad. My right quad/leg feels a little weak and out of whack but there is no pain during the day or for the first 3 miles or so of my runs. It just feels like my right quad/leg is not working like it should.
My theory is that my right quad just got overworked on the downhill run and only has enough in it to go for a short and flat run. I am guessing it just needs time and some attention, but how much time and attention? Or is something else going on? I am currently training for a marathon and need to get some serious miles on my legs.
Any ideas on what is going on? Suggestions?
