Not a fluke. She has run fast before and got into a sprint out for a runner up position in the past. Doubt you would remember that (go ahead and google it!).
For the subject of the thread Des Linden is all about being supportive of other US runners and they know that. Jordan Hasay knew that as well if you watch her post race interview. I'm confident that she is happy another US runner is on the podium.
In the future I can totally see Des Linden working her way into coaching after her running career ends. She has all of characteristics that would make her a great coach.
