Can't beat genetics.
As a flat chested female, I find sports bras super comfortable. Much more so than traditional bras. Anyway, I hear men's nipples can chafe during distance events. I have never heard of this problem for women, and I assume it is because of the bra protecting the nipples. I've wondered why men don't wear something like that to avoid chafing nipples. It just sounds so painful.
So, if the reason he is wearing that is to prevent chafing, not only is he better looking, stronger, and fitter than you, but he is also smarter and sure of himself.
Welcome to the 21st century in which dignity is overrated.
I think he's wearing Brandi Chastain's black Nike sports bra (but not filling it out very well).
Men can have chafing of the nipples, but this does not happen if bare chested. Otherwise, there are some drug store items that most people can use to prevent chafing.
Wasn't this lycra-spandex half shirt a popular look with the triathletes for a while about 20 years ago?
simply a way to help dissipate body heat
who cares what he wears
I want to know his PRs
Agreed, who cares. Nothing worse than a sweat drenched singlet. I've got a few of those cropped tops (men's versions, from when you could buy them in the early 2000s - Saucony/ Scott Tinley) Way more comfortable -end of discussion. See the John Campbell pic earlier in this thread. People freaking out about this probably can't deal with traditional full split 3" inseam running shorts either.
That said, I do take issue with the obvious photo editing . If the guy did that prior to posting to accentuate his abs, quads etc, then he is a narcissistic loser, 2:18 or not, he's lost the script.
Slight thread drift. There was a guy wearing something that looked a lot like this in my corral.

He was also in full make up and was wearing a tiara.
Not that there is anything wrong with that.
He looked angry - maybe he lost a bet.

Pics? Of the actual guy?

There was a guy on the starting line of the elite men wearing a woman’s shirt showing his belly- wtf?
That’s disgusting. Why would any sane man do that?

If I were looking like that, I'd be fine with it, if you guys posted my picture on the front LR.Com home page - more/better advertising for me!
;-)
Pansies like these dudes:

Guys offended by this would totally lose their in-the-closet sh1t if he was running without a shirt.
And the old man behind her is coming in his pants. He wants him.

You sure he isn't a trans? You can't assume these days.
Well he has a full beard. That would be odd.

She is amazing. Any guy would be lucky to have her.
2:19 best and somehow made it into the elite field at Boston... good gawd.

I wasn't especially bothered by it. It's just a long winded article basically saying that he had eaten a large variety of diets and all have worked well for him and thus he thinks it doesn't matter too much if you stress about exactly what you eat.
He is very rambly in general, which sometimes can be a good thing. Like many, I'm stuck exercising inside right now to avoid the plague, but fortunately the Spousal Unit got one of those Nordic Track Smart treadmills last fall. (It's a competitor to the Peleton exercise bike but the videos are taped on location around the world and then the treadmill speed and incline is synced to the videos)
Tommy's one of the 'iFit trainers' they use and while there are times you can poke holes in what he's saying, his commentary and a screen showing the virtual Grand Canyon or Patagonia or Swiss Alps or Easter Island actually make an hour on the treadmill go by reasonably quickly. I actually found this thread looking for more information on him.
(For those who are further interested in other iFit personalities, I suggest Hannah Eden's instagram page, though I'm rather terrified of her abs)

never heard of this guy until now. sounds like a freaking stud that dont give a crap what other people think. sounds pretty awesome. sounds like someone I'd like to hang out with. long runs in the hills must be a blast with this guy.
His brother Jacob set the 50 mile treadmill record of 4:57 in 2016. The brothers ran the 2017 Boston marathon in 2:18 for Tommy and 2:26 for Jacob.
In response to the OP, or anyone else, why is showing ones tummy 'disgusting'?
****
I also have been doing some of Tommy's workouts in the iFit running series on my Nordic Track. Also being forced to stay at home so as to avoid Covid-19, but totally enjoying these running sessions on the incline treadmill. He seems to be a truly nice person, loves what he's doing, and charmingly enthusiastic about life in general. And probably smarter than every one of the people who have posted on this thread. Who cares what he's wearing in that pic? Not me! He could dress up in a tutu and put purple bows in his beard and I'd still be a fan. :) And he probably couldn't care less what any of you think about it.
