Fantastic results for a fairly warm day on a hilly course and I think the wind was generally a crosswind, not a tailwind
I wondered if they'd be sub 2:08 guys if the weather was better and if they didn't have to run up heartbreak hill(s) and DOWN the quad busting hills to the finish.
CHEAT SHOES.
Why'd the Kenyan give up and let Mission Man pass him at the end? WEAKSAUCE.

I believe that the top-10 finishes in a WMM mean they are have met the Olympic criteria.
They both already did that at NYC last fall.
Breaking 2:10 is an arbitrary standard that we celebrate because it has a nice ring to it. I think the negative reaction is aimed more towards the 7th/8th place finish. If you’re satisfied with that then how can you ever hope to be in the running for the win? If our guys ran 3:55 in the mile (Daniels equivalent) and finished 8th no one would care.
How come you usurp every thread you wish you'd started? Such a betch move.

exactly! 7th place sucks. Make American Marathon Runners Great Again.
Scott: seems like a humble guy and can be a fan favorite. Excellent run.
Word: I’ve met him and he’s always nice and friendly. Excellent run with the special undies.
Well I didn't race today, so...

I mean, you might get all excited about this, but you know Dewi Griffiths and Callum Hawkins are going to run 2:07-2:08 at London.
LOL.

Well, its top 10. Its pretty good in a loaded field.
We already do have a 2:05-2:06 runner that can blow the doors off of just anyone and I could have seen him winning here today (Rupp), but we do need a tier of runners like Fauble and Ward in the 2:07-2:09 range that can threaten for podium spots in major marathons. They should also be able to win marathons such as Houston and Los Angeles.

Pretty loaded field? 2:07-2:09 range threatening for podiums at major marathons? Not in London or Berlin at any rate!
You do understand that those are faster courses?

Real racing is not so much about time, but place and competing. There is a reason why Wilson Kipsang(2:03 PB) lost to Stephen Kiprotich(2:06 PB) at the 2012 Olympic games.
Ward was wearing Saucony 4% disguised as the Dunkin Donuts Kinvara shoe. Look closely at pics.
What Fauble (and Ward) did was awe inspiring. They competed with top Africans in harsh weather and ended up only a minute behind. Their performance was much more impressive than the Africans due to the fact that they're racing at 150 pounds vs the 110 pounds for the Kenyans and Ethiopians. Maybe there should be different classes of racers? One for normal humans and one for midgets? With only the the normal human class counting for world records?
The US finally has 2 others not counting Rupp that given a 2 mile head start could likely win a marathon major! GO USA!!
Apparently Fauble was about 400 meters from winning a major marathon. Think about that.
