Lets add it up
150k base salary
25k entry bonus- Boston
125k - Boston win
250k - brooks bonus for boston win
100k- NYC entry bonus
20k- NYC 6th place
That's 620k without adding in speeches and appearances and other bonuses from Brooks. Her coffee company etc.
I may be high on her base salary from brooks, but I am probably underselling her bonus for a Boston win.
I wouldn't be suprised if Boston had a contractual term where she got an extra bonus on top of the regular first place prize money. Do you really think only $100K entry bonus to New York? Wouldn't be surprised if it was 2X or more that.
Also no mention of other appearance fees or promotional events. Plus I'm pretty sure she has endorsements besides Brooks. I could easily see the bonuses she received from winning Boston from all parties being $500K-$750K not including any speaking engagements or appearance fees from future races. Being the first women to win Boston in such a long time is a huge deal, don't underestimate that? She is one of the few recognizable US marathoners.
In an average year of her career, I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't touch $500K but winning Boston is not an average year and would trigger a huge increase.
