Sun - Sick
During cooldown miles on Saturday's workout, I felt like I had hit the wall HARD for the first time outside of a race in years. It turned out that I was just sick and didn't know it yet. The silver lining was that it reminded me just how far I've come. It was common to have that feeling at the end of runs a few years ago and I had pretty much forgotten that.
Total Miles: 69.1
Training for Cap City Columbus on 4/26.
Mon 4/8 6 moderately hard, 7:55 pace intervals (6x1 mile).
Tues 4/9 5 easy, 40:40, 45% effort jog
Wed 4/10 OFF
Thurs 4/11 6 moderate, 48:28, hot weather, 78'F
Fri 4/12 OFF
Sat 4/13 11 miles, 8:07 pace, easy. Last long run before the Cap City half. Trying for my first full this fall and inspired by Boston coverage.
Sun 4/14 OFF
28 miles
Mon 4/15 Watching Boston, as best as I can, on breaks during work!
Forgot my info:
Male, 35, 5'2'', 135. Started running in '98 and then took time off after '01, then some time in '08, then more time off, then full-time since '17. So really only 2 years since my mid-30s, starting at age 33. But in a lot of ways I'm more prepared than I was in HS, even if I'm not as fast.
Boston Boys. Take it to it.
Good Luck!
Very kind of y'all, but really, I didn't need the Taiwanese heat and humidity! Headin' out soon.

Not that this will do any good because it will likely match about 500 other dudes in Hopkinton, but I’m planning to wear: navy beater sweats, white adidas cap, clear poncho, black Asics. (Racing in: blue Nike Streaks, black shorts, blue adidas singlet, white cap.) Blond beard, unfortunately trimmed to a presentable length. Say hey if you think you see me.
Sweet dreams...
I like to imagine the confusion of people from the thread walking up to a stranger and asking "Are you sub 6:00?" and the stranger confusing the conversation with pace planning instead of personal identification.
Anyway, I'm probably too late for the racers to see this, but go give it hell everybody. A lot of great work went into this one.
Just wanted to let people know that I'm currently able to watch the local boston coverage online. Don't know if I'll be able to keep watching but worth a shot even if you're not local.

I'm wondering if some chips aren't catching. Both Still Improving and a friend of mine should have started in wave 1, but I don't have splits for either.
I read something about some buses being held at Boston Common - I'm wondering if some people missed their wave for that reason.
Late to the party, but best of luck to the Boston crew from San Diego! Milk WAS a bad choice!
