Arent we kind of biased here....I would love to see braman as a head coach.Ive heard great things about him...But..what about sprint coach? After all Long is the sprint coach which would leave a huge gap.It also is the weakest part of the team.

Actually, according to Seminoles.com...there is a sprint specialist coach, as well as for each set of events. Not to be picky. But I think Braman would be a good choice. At a school like FSU, distance oriented athletes are typically the most difficult to recruit. (Just look at the whole southeast between Arkansas and North Carolina). This could be another ace in the hole for a team that already has good throwers and jumpers. Though the sprinter argument may be valid. It may be hard to compete with Florida (as it already is) in the speed department.
Terry Long (FSU '63) - Head Coach
Bob Braman (Florida '80) - Assistant Coach
Dennis Nobles (FSU '83) - Pole Vault, High, Long & Triple Jumps
Harlis Meaders (UNC '92) - Throws
Maicel Malone-Wallace (Arizona St. '95) - Sprints
Jackie Richards (New Mexico '98) - Assistant Coach
Matt Whaley (South Florida '01) - Volunteer Coach
Gretchen Meyer (Florida State '01) - Graduate Assistant
David Halliday (Florida '94) - Graduate Assistant

I think we can find some better examples of USF track performances that Sheldon Monderoy and Jeremy Edge (no offense to either). How about 2 X NCAA 5K Champion Jon Dennis, a 4 X 1500 team that ran 15:11 at Penn, Sheldon Collins 1:48 - 800, John Bowden 3:41 - 1500, Dror Vaknin 29:12 - 10K etc. Not only is Braman a great guy but he has the coaching credentials to back himself up. I would think that the only reason why the job is being advertised is because they have to.
If you'll reread the appropriate posts it was mentioned that Edge and Monderoy were part of the USF program at one time and that both also POSTED at Letsrun. We're well aware of the exploits of Dennis, Bowden, etc. but there is little evidence of either posting here - although possible Bowden at one time.
The UTC coach was only offered the XC position, not the gead track job. Now that Coach Braman has that, I don't think he is a candidate at all anymore. Regarding Coach Braman, I have nothing but the utmost repspect for the guy. I ran for him for 5 years and enjoyed them all. Yes, we had some of our "ups" and "downs" but you have that anywhere. Not only was he a coach, he was a friend first. A guy that you could approach about anything at anytime.
Someone made the comment that since he is a XC coach, he might have a problem as a head coach. He was a head coach before and just because he is more of a distance oriented guy doens't mean he doesn't know his stuff. He has a ton of knowledge in the speciality events. You have to remember that he had almost no scholarship money at USF. Yes, the majority of money was spent on distance runners because they were three season athletes. If you notice the mens program at USF has already gone downhill with the new coaching. They can't even field a full XC squad. Now that sounds like some "sketchy" coaching.
Give Coach Braman an open checkbook and watch what he does with that program. He's got my vote.

Brahman was a jerk. When I was looking to do some transfer work all he did was brag about how great there team was and how he would sweat through 34 shirts at a meet because he would be running around he also told me to get a scholarship I was going to have to run 25:30 for 8k and would possibly make the varsity team...which is rediculious for that team. What a joke he is!
No wonder they are terrible. 25:30 for 8k is pathetic. I would hope that he would at least have those standards. Most coaches that know what they are doing do not recruit based on cross country times. Track times are the only thing that many will even look at.
5 Florida State 123 7 25 26 30 35 37 41
Total Time: 2:07:46.20
Average: 25:33.24
ACC's this year (i hear they blew up anyway) If you can't run 25:30, you shouldn't be using running as a large factor in your decision anyway and certainly shouldn't be holding out for dough. Especially if you are transferring to a program where the distance coach isn't the head coach who allocates the funds. If he doesn't have it to give, he can't offer it. I'm sure he wanted to. Most coaches want to give out cash to runners who want to come because you never know how an athlete will develop.

SEC indoor champs 2003 with wins in the mile and 5000m
Two time NCAA champ at 5000m.
They guy can't coach.
Precal,
I don't see what is wrong with him saying you needed to run 25:30 to obtain a scholarship and possibly make the varsity team. I guarantee you that not all of FSU's top 7 are on scholarship. I personally ran for Braman and he will not base someone soley on XC times, rather track times and placement within big XC meets. During my 5 years there we had numerous individuals running sub 26 8k who where not on a scholarship. I also know for a fact that Braman would not turn you away either. Coach Braman always welcomed walk-ons and gives everyone a chanced pending they meet some minor goals. Due to Title XI and the numbers game you had to be sub 15:45 in order even garner a roster spot.
I personally take insult to you calling Coach Braman a jerk. That is a word that I have never heard mentioned in the same sentence with him. Coach Braman was and is still always willing to help his runners and others at well. I remember a time while I was at USF and was looking to transfer to another in-state rival school. Upon discussing it with with Coach Braman, he granted me a release no questions asked. He even went as far to call the coach at the school I was looking to transfer to and gave a recommendation for me. I did not ask him to do this and was unaware he even did this until the other coach told me. Needless to say I didn't transfer but my point is this is what kind of guy Coach Braman is.
I personally know coaches (at top 25 schools) out there that friends of mine have run for that disliked their coaches because they weren't personable coaches. Yes, there has to be a line between coaching and being your friend but as a coach yoru duty is also to be a friend.
I would appreciate it in the future that you think before you make comments about someone you really don't know. You would have been very lucky to have run with Coach Braman. I am not personally attacking you at all but take great offense when negative things are said about someone who was a mentor to me. If you want to continue this discussion, feel free to email me or atleast post your real name on here.
