One world record, one olympic record, three national records, one world junior record, seven personal bests in an OLYMPIC FINAL with no rabbit, of course.
Sooo...has there been a more impressive race at any distance, men or women, junior/masters?!

Yes, The London race was much better.
Every pro level 100m, 200m, and 400m race ever has been faster than the race you mention.

one other thing you missed is the fastest time for each position.
for example, David Rudisha ran a WR, so that is the fastest time for 1st place in an 800m race. ever.
but, Nijel Amos (BOT) in 2nd, ran 1:41.73 which is the fastest time for 2nd place in an 800m, ever.
and, Timothy Ketum (KEN) ran 1:42.53 which is the fastest time for 3rd place in an 800m, ever.
and so on, down through each of the first 7 places to...
Abubaker Kaki Khamis (SUD) who ran 1:43.32, the fastest time for 7th place in the 800m, ever. the first 7 places in that one race are the fastest time for their position, ever.
the fastest time for 8th place in an 800m is owned by Adam Kszczot (POL) who ran 1:43.76 in Paris 27 Aug 2016.
cheers.
The race was in London.

Yes. And wrong question. Has there been a more juiced race, at any distance? Fixed. Leaves the incredible dirty women's 1500 at London completely in the shade.
London 2012 100 meter race was won in 9.63. Don't ever forget that. Tyson Gay couldn't even secure a medal with a 9.80. The entire field would have dipped under ten if Powell didn't get injured. Rudisha's world record is probably equivalent to a 9.70. Real talk.

The men's 800 fixed? ? I don't follow you on this one? How was it fixed? Who fixed it and why? I think when you look back at that race Rudisha decided to go for it right after the first 400 and that caused a major reaction from the group. You can see the panick with the chase group in the backstretch when rudisha opens up a pretty good gap with the chasers thinking "WTF."

Fixed the question. Not the race.

According to one poster here recently, Rudisha told his Kenyan teammates (which would actually be only one - 18 year old Timothy Kitum) that he was going to run from the front and not to follow him but rather wait for the others to blow up chasing him (Rudisha).
The 800m in London must have been unique for that event in the sense it was essentially WR paced (and by the WR holder).
Actually, it's a shame the quality of the finalists wasn't a bit higher, but then if that had been the case, Rudisha obviously wouldn't have led all the way. He knew he could because he was so far above everybody else in the field (I don't think we even guessed at the potential of Nigel Amos before the race).
The 1:41 of '18 year old' Amos was amazing, but really, for such an epic race paced by the greatest in history, 1:42.5 for bronze and barely breaking 1:43 for the two Americans in 4th and 5th wasn't anything special. It was a long way from the equivalent of a 100m final were everybody goes under 9.9 or even under 10.

Main casualties were Abubaker Kaki, whose plan had been to shadow Rudisha’s every step from the start, staring at his heels and not even bothering to look up, and Mohamed Aman, who panicked the most and you can see sprinting all out just as they get to the back straight. They were the only two not to PR. Timothy Kitum profited from inside info and saved his powder for the last 150 and finished stronger than everyone but Nick Symmonds. Such interesting plots and subplots in that race, but I think Rio 2016 was even more visually entertaining.
Every competitor in that final ran a pb, that included the wr by Rudisha. The last placegetter ran 1.43.77 - fast enough to win most finals. After Rudisha, most of the field ran 1.41.xx-1.42.xx. I don't think I have seen a less believable race.
Thanks all! (Yes, I meant the London 2012 WR run of course)
I'm curious if anyone has ever quantified it to say THIS is the race at any distance with the most impressive performances/records -- ie there might be say a 10k racewalk event sometime with a similar shocking number of records -- but at the least the London 2012 800m and the London 2012 100m mens finals both had incredible group performances.

What? There was a thread with the title 'you' and you think that was more stupid than suggesting that an 800m race was the fastest race ever at any distance?
Where is this thread please?
