Fructose is fructose, whether it's in a chocolate bar or an apple. Too much of it is bad for you because it makes you fat and has bad effects on the insulin system.
For the same amount of fructose consumed as chocolate or as fruit it is possibly healthier in the form of fruit, because of the fiber, vitamins, etc., but that does not mean that it is healthy to eat 10 bananas a day.
All this "we evolved to eat blah" nonsense is just the worst sort of pseudo-science based on a caricatural understanding of evolution and physiology. These people are spiritual kin of anti-vaxers and other charlatans.
I suppose that any study of history, paleontology, archeology, philosophy, etc. is anathema to you; just a bunch of "pseudoscience" with no contemporary relevance. Context is unimportant when you only operate in one or two dimensions I suppose. It is this blinkered point of view that has gotten us into this global health crisis after all, but as long as you are comfortable in spending the last 40% of your lifespan in some sort of disability, ignorance is bliss.
The bottom line for me is performance: athletically, cognitively and holistically. It serves me well to know the "why" as well as the "what". That way I know not only the action that I need to take, but also am able to aim it in the proper direction.
