Look forwarding to bumping this one when she doesn't.
Have any Ray Treacy athletes lived up to their 10,000 and half marathon times in the marathon? Kim Smith didn't, Molly Huddle hasn't, Amy Cragg improved a lot after she left for Portland, and Alistair Cragg ran 2:23 at Fukuoka in 2013 after dropping out in 2011. I hope Emily does well but I don't see something much faster than 2:25.

Is this a Flagpole guarantee, meaning when it does not happen, you just shrug it off?
While American record is not likely in her debut, I can see her running 2:21:xx and this being a springboard into the trials etc.
US Womens marathon team 2020:
Huddle
Sisson
Hasay
Epic.
I think the sample size is a bit too limited to draw any firm conclusions either way. He certainly has a long history with the marathon, with his brother winning Olympic silver over the distance back in 1984, though I accept that in no way makes him a good marathon coach. Kim Smith and Molly Huddle have both run good marathons under Treacy, 2:25 and 2:26 in New York, respectively. Okay, that is not close to AR territory, but I have a hunch that Sisson may take to the marathon better than either of those two and have a significantly tighter conversion from HM.
I don't know what a flagpole guarantee is, but... yeah, sounds about right.
I was thinking this is possible, She ran a negative 15:40/15:09 split in her 10000, the first half in London will be VERY Fast, she may even pass the half better than her current Personal Best of 67:30, I think Kosgei wins in high 2:15-Low 2:16 (No World Record) Sisson will run 2:18-2:20 and I am hoping Huddle breaks 2:20 as well, Though 2:21-2:22 is more realistic for Huddle, Sisson is improving more than Huddle, will be a great race.
No way Huddle even breaks 2:22. She’s never run well at the distance.
Sisson sub 2:21.
Yet wishing them both a breakthrough race.
I'm following Brett Robinson and Jack Rayner and I think the AR that's going down is the Aussie marathon record.
Very good chance that one of those two will break the 2:08:16 record.

Kim smith had that one Boston where she built a good sized lead and was cranking away only to suffer some sort of injury right around the hills
However good the form of Kosgei is, just once in the rarified air of sub 2.20 might tell when the pressure comes

Hopefully, Hasay will fully-recover from her injuries. She'll need to. It'll be one helluva race in Atlanta. And I'm not writing off Cragg and the Old Guard (Flanagan, Linden).

Pappas will be there also. Ooops. I forgot. She's Greek.

Gotta love an optimist, no way Sisson gets with 200 seconds of 2.18

Huddle has what only run NYC twice & Boston in the garbage weather of last year? She hasn't really gotten herself into a fast marathon. She hasn't really gone for many fast half marathons (mostly NYC again) -- the one time she did she got the AR in Houston. Her 10k pb & her 1:07:25 show anything from the AR to 2:22/23 range on the right course on the right day. Hoping for good weather and we should see a pair of American distance stars throw down. When was the last time two Americans went sub-2:23, 2:22, 21, 20 in the same race? The potential is there for sure.

I already answered that 2 american women under 2.23, etc rubbish. try over 2.26.

I would love to see that, however hitting the half in the 67 range will be suicide for her. I would like to see her go through the half in 70:30 and work off of that. Then anything in the 2:19-2:22 range would be doable if she is having a good day. This being her first Marathon she does not know how her body will react to the stress of the race.

I like both of these guys, but I can’t see it happening. Jack is on debut and hasn’t had the perfect build-up, Brett is fast at 5,000m but hasn’t shown much at the longer distances.
Hope I’m wrong but realistically sub 2:11 would be a result for either of them
