Thanks for posting this. I love Let's Run and really don't like the naysayers who are constantly critical on this message board.
This post was a breathe of fresh air and very inspiring.

Having followed Letsrun and the brojos for about 15 years, I have often scratched my head at many of the things they have done over the years and had concerns about the effect their work has on the sport. Sponsoring two runners to go to World XC and writing very good coverage about the athletes selected is the first time I can unequivocally say that the Brojos really did a great thing for the sport in a way that no other publication, sponsor, vendor or event has ever done. Footing the bill for two runners to go to World XC was just an act of pure kindness and love for the sport and its competitors.
I'm glad you got to live out a dream Kelsey, goodluck in your future endeavors!
Congratulations Kelsey! Thank you for sharing!
Great write-up Kelsey. It was very fun getting to follow along with all the coverage, and get out of bed at a stupid hour on a saturday morning to watch the race.
Two questions:
-Is Jonathans accent fake?
-Did Weldon ever make it to the top of the museum roof?
Great race and great post Kelsey. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Great to hear!
Kudos to you for having the guts to apply and the fitness to follow through with it.
All the best,
tJ
Glad it was as awesome as it sounded like it would be.
And kudos to the Brojos. For all its warts, LetsRun can also be a pretty cool place.

At the race, Weldon spoke to every person that wanted his attention.
That can't have taken very long.
Wonderful story. Happy they did this. You made many fans here! Best of luck!
What a great Letsrun story.
Thanks for posting.
one of LRC finest moments.
Love it. Awesome story. Glad you had a great time! Thanks for Brojos for doing something so cool.
Thanks for the follow up Kelsey and good luck with your future racing!! I loved all of the World XC coverage, it is a great reminder of why I love this sport!
I loved following Kelsey's race. I would love to see Letsrun sponsor more less known runners chasing their dream and document those experiences.
Awesome job! Thanks for posting this. Also, congrats to the other guy, Matt, and LRC - Great coverage.
As trashy as this place can be sometimes, I think this hive of scum and villainy is actually a force for good in this world and for this sport.
Thank you for your story Kelsey, and please keep the boards updated with your races (and if you’re willing, for us numbers nerds, you’re training) I think you’re an inspiration to all of us!
Thanks for sharing and good luck with your future plans...and don't be a stranger to LRC !

I was/am so impressed with Robert and Weldon...
Um, are you sure you got the right Robert and Weldon?
So here's what you do Kelsey, put together a process to identify and send runners to all the big races around the World. You could ping the LRC community for ideas on how to pull it off but you could pitch something like this; Through an LRC portal we would attempt to raise the money and find matching funds through corporate sponsors. The runners would be picked from Juniors/Seniors/Collegiate/Post Collegiate/Sub sub elites/Overtrained/Undertrained/Human Interest Stories/Hobby Joggers/etc. (I'm thinking of that one ex runner who ran a marathon off no training - didn't really do too badly either) Those runners would then be "boots on the ground" for that particular race. They would report back to the LRC community with a brief thread about the experience, both running and non running related. To be a "sponsored runner" they'd have to be decked out in those ugly LRC kits.
You're in the perfect position to lead this effort, you'll just need to convince the Brojos and the LRC community, but that shouldn't be too hard because, even though we've got a hardened, gruff exterior, inside we're all a bunch of pushovers for the sport.
I was having a similar thought. I'd give some money for a concerted LetsRun effort to get cool folks into cool races.
Lovely post, Kelsey!
I see from the front page article that Kelsey is getting back into racing action very quickly with the Cherry Blossom 10 Mile this coming Sunday.
As usual, there will be a free Runnerspace webcast of this race. I'll be cheering Kelsey on there too:
