Yes but that is because the 12th place finisher was the first under 20 home.

Lol, he will soon start wearing yellow to his Mugabe meetings.
I’m sure all 11 guys in front of him were over 20 years old ?

Nah. You’re just salty.
Letsrun used the NCAA altitude charts to show that Mengesha's 5000m pr of 13:56, I think, converts down all the way to 13:09 or something like that, better than Jakob's 13:17. Still, the hills explain the difference, as Jakob's 13:17 was closed in 54, so he was 13 flat caliber or better. The East African depth in the races was obviously incredibly impressive, as usual. I figure that most of the African junior athletes are just guys who haven't competed internationally as seniors and weren't good enough to make top six in the senior race on one given day. So, the depth really shows in the dominance across juniors and seniors, but it is not necessarily under 20 depth, except in some cases. Mengesha I do not see as under 20, while Kiplimo may well be 20 or 21. Awfully impressive performances all around for Uganda, Burundi, Ethiopia, and Kenya even in a down year. (Kenya's depth at World XC is probably suffering from more guys going to the roads).

I know. So was mine, genius.
Jakob getting all that attention for finishing 12th is a matter of regional bias. The announcers were Europeans and they wanted a European to win. Understandable, but that's not really what racism is.
To the actual racists: Jakob had little to no chance of winning because he is too big. This is not about race but about how much he has eaten in his life. It's the equivalent of someone entering the Tour de France with a bike frame 5 pounds heavier than average; he might hang for a while but will be dropped in the Alps once someone makes a serious break.
The fact that he has eaten more in his life than the average east African is also not about race, but is about colonialism and global hegemony, which few modern liberals will ever admit. With them, everything is about feeling good due to your good intentions and noble views, regardless of facts.
Well, what is so hard to understand?
The reason Jakob is getting more attention than the winners is because he is a mid distance world star, while the rest of the field are a bunch of nobodys.
Another reason is that we will get to see Jakob for another 5-10 years of quality racing, while the majority of these 11 guys that beat him will fade into oblivion this or next year already.
And you can leave the racism accusations out of this. Simple facts: when you run 3:31 being 17 years old and beating a bunch of famous runners in the process you gonna be a star in any event you enter.
P.S.
Usain Bolt was still the most famous soccer player in that australian soccer team, though he definetely was not one of the best in that team.
There’s no sarcasm in “No, you’re just salty.” Especially when you’ve had that response genuinely to others. Do you know what sarcasm is?
Mo Farah’s best finish as a junior was 25th. His best as a senior was 11th.
Just saying.

All years before he became a world-beater.
Just image these two would compete clean! Then they would get lapped by these "nobodies".
