Wonder whether he'd have won on a flatter course?

8km is outside of Jakobs range, especially with the tough hills.
Good effort, I don’t know why people thought he could win this particular race, he’s a 1500m runner.
Kenya looking bad as a team so far. Ethiopia FTW!
Mengesha is a beast. I wonder if he is a future talent.

Jacob gave everything he had, best European result in 25 years i think
Just amazing to see those athletes running so fast on that course.
No US runner in the top 50 in the women's U20 race... What a shame...

I'm sure he could have won this race on a flat course (he already is better at 3k/5k than at 1500m), but he always sucked at running hills, see here:

How about the mountain running champ!
If this was 10km he might have won!
Does anybody else have a sucky feed that keeps locking up and dropping?
Next up... the Kelsey Bruce show!

Let's put Dathan in a world junior 800 and see how he'd do. Remember Jakob is a 1500 guy, not an 8k.

I'm actually impressed by Jakob, I thought he will do worse remembering him collapsing at a local mountain running race two years ago.
strange and disappointing. and he collapsed right after the finish line. very exhausted. looking at his 5k performances and i am really confused. there are only two explanations: 1. he has a very, very bad day or 2. he can not compete against the best xc runners on a hilly course like this and over that distance.
CBC (Canadian) broadcast is really solid.
Ingebrigtsen wouldn't have made it 12k if that race was 10k. He fell to ground in mixed zone. Robert will have some photos soon.

Both I think. There was some question as to his form coming into thsi.
I've got nothing, where did he come?
