He's definitely using as little energy as possible (on that brutal hill) while hoping he can make it up within the first 400 or so of the next lap.

Now, something is happening in the front. Will he keep up??
seems to be allowing a gap now
Ingbretsen not quite done yet...
Not easy to say if he is smart or tired......
Hopefully smart
I think the commentators may be writing Ingebrigsten off too soon? The African juniors are known to go bonkers up hills. I am hoping he is just letting them blow themselves up in the ego battle.
The last climb is going to kill him, assuming he's still in touch at that point, seems unlikely for now.

How many times can the commentators refer to the "lone Ugandan" when there are 4 of them in the lead pack?
...because they can't see.
Why did we even bother sending a U20 women’s team?
Sad effort
He is tired.
First European at the 2017 championships was 32nd in about 3 minutes back from the winner. So Jakob's addition has been fantastic to this field.
It'll be interesting if/when some of these top 10 drop off instead of just string out. It's gotta happen, right?
Meh, Ingebrigsten is just toast lol. Definitely some new Ethiopian stars being born!
I'm actually impressed by Jakob, I thought he will do worse remembering him collapsing at a local mountain running race two years ago.
What a fantastic course.
Great racing
Mengesha has a beautiful stride.
Why Rupp would never have run a race like this one.
Great win for the Ethiopian. Jakob ran quite well by European standards.
Considery jabok is a 1500m guy, im pretty impressed - he still wiped a lot of guys.

and african...
Mengesha and Worku have massive balls... Worku for leading most of the race and Mengesha for making his move with a full lap to go.
Ingebrigsten finishing 40 seconds back and collapsing at the end... never would have guessed! World XC is insane.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
