Yes it is, especially for those who just trained during a harsh winter season. That’s why I hope it rains. The winds have also shifted to a tailwind. In warm weather, I actually prefer a bit of a headwind. However, if it’s rainimg hard, at least a tailwind won’t be blowing rain directly into your eyes.
It's really quite amazing how the forecast has shifted from low 40s to now low 60s. What a difference that makes. Low 40s is my preferred running temp. In the 60s I start to overheat.
60's is too warm. But not awfully so.
I live and train in central NH so have rarely ran in temps above 40, never mind 50.
Overall though it could be a lot worse, it's a spring marathon in a temperate area like Boston. It could be anything from snow to 90, like in 2012, so 60's, light rain and a tail wind is about as good as we could hope for IMO.
The main issue is the potential thunderstorms because presumably they'd have to stop the race if there are any ground strikes.

Also I think with some rain (hopefully light, not a downpour) the 60s will probably feel chillier than, say, 60s and sunny.
Good point about the thunderstorm. That is a bit worrisome.
So the forecast just went from heavy rain and a direct headwind to light showers and a direct tailwind... and now people are complaining about the temperature?
Low 60's and overcast is absolutely fine. I ran a race in the high 60's and cloudy conditions last August, and at no point did I feel too hot or dehydrated. The clouds make a huge difference vs. sunny and dry conditions.
I’m wondering what forecast B.A.A. is using, as their latest email advises to prepare for cold and very wet conditions, recommending wearing layers, hats, gloves etc. Also announced that Wave 4 will start immediately after Wave 3.
Man, you guys are pretty negative. The weather seems just right to me. Ideally I'd take low 50's but 60 with a slight tailwind and rain is pretty damn good.

Yeah that was a weird email.
And what is the point of starting wave 4 immediately after 3? Are they worried about afternoon thunderstorms and people being on the course late in the day?
Aaahhhh!!! 40s too cold. Aaaahhh!!! 60s too hot. Aaahhhh!!! wind. Aaahhhh!!! light rain. You all are softer than a box of Kleenex. Honestly, Goldilocks was less picky. You should all be ashamed of yourselves. Just give it your best effort and stop carping about the weather.
Nice, The weather looks pretty good for running if most of the heavy rain is done before the race starts. I'll run in low 60s and drizzle all day.
I am concerned about potential for thunderstorms though for delays or stopping the race.
Low 60s is not bad. Dubai is 60+ and humid every single year and always produces fast times. The big facor will be wind. With a tailwind and 60s it will still be a great day!
60's in August is very different to 60's in April.
But yeah its fine., especially with the rain cooling.
I'm looking forwards to it. I last did it in 2012 when it was brutal.
As someone running it, I agree that there is too much complaining about the weather. If anybody preferred low 40s with rain and a headwind over the current forecast, you are out of your mind.
Low 60s and sunny is tough to race in. Low 60's, with a cross breeze and some light rain, is almost ideal running weather. You should be as cool in that as you are in low 50s with sun and no wind, which most people would consider "perfect" marathon weather.
Absolutely massive tailwind projected now! Rain really doesn't matter so much. Better see some fast times up front.
Wish I were running. wrote:

Wind can change so rapidly. It could change Sunday night, and we're all f*cked!

Yes, the thunder is currently predicted to be more prevalent in the afternoon even though the rain will be heaviest in the morning.
I don't really care what it does.

Yeah. When you're not running, what does it matter.
