Why does cheserek barely run outdoor track?

he didn't do outdoor last year due to injury

he seems to have no plans to represent Kenya any time soon.

what are these dinky little 5k road races he's done? name a few.

no way would he ever make the kenyan 1500 team.

he could definitely make the kenyan 5000m team...kenya actually has had a very sad team at the 5k in recent years.

I think he would have a decent shot, and that is just not true that kenya has a "sad" 5000m team

I'm not harassing I just want to see him back out on the track is all. Its cool seeing him crush lower elite level athletes but hes world class and I personally would like to see what he can do in the diamond league or world champs races

There are 5 or 10 Kenyans who are better than him so he's correct

Currently Cheriuyot, E Managoi, Birgen and Simotwo are clearly better runners as of 2018.

Then there is Ronald Kwemoi with an injured/unknown/disapperared status.

I think Cheserek is 5th best Kenyan contested by Soget, G Managoi and Kiprono.

Because his “coach” is his Agent. No money to be made in Diamond Leagues unless you’re a world beater. Sad part is looks exactly like last year all over again instead of trying a new race scheduling strategy.

Now if you look at where he belongs in the 1500, the best clue is the 2018 top 20 chart where Cheserek would be between place 15 (Rotich @3:33.21) & place 16 (Jake Wightman & 3:33.96) . He is not running faster than Chris O'Hare.

Cheserek's best bet is the 5000.

To add more context to his times. He had some injury set backs and was still able to go out and run the 3:33 from what I remember. I do not think he is a 1500 runner but I also do not think he is maxed out at 3:33. It's kinda like saying Mo Farah is maxed out at 12:53

It reminds me of Genzebe. Firing on all cylinders indoors. Indoor PRs better than outdoor. But to be fair, as Reed pointed out, there's a reason he wasn't around last August and September. If fit, he could have been in that blazing 5k. I don't think he's dodging, so let's see what happens this year. If it does turn out the same year after year, then he really is another Genzebe.

No lock, but he'd have an excellent shot at third. He has a very good kick, has run 3:49 indoors, which is worth better than 3:33 (the new wr holder earlier ran 3:48.5/3:31.4), and can very much challenge Soget and G. Manangoi for third. Birgen's not good enough.
