Nothing wrong with HS kids running quick on their easy days. Much more important is that they are running, that they are willing to put in the work, and that they come to the line ready to race without fear.

This sounds like me the past few years, except I didn't go to Strava and try to copy the pros, I came here and bugged the sh1t out of y'all to get info. I crafted my own training pace calculator based off of a few others I saw on the internet and I used that to scale down pro workouts and training regimens to my paces and my intended MPW. Then I started slipping hints to my coach about all of it and now we work together on a lot of training stuff.
It worked out alright, but it was mentally exhausting to obsess over my own training. Once my coach and I were on the same page, I let him tell me what to do, and I did it, no questions asked. I got a lot better, and I felt good doing it too. I still think the obsession phase was necessary, since my coach was doing all the stuff that is considered big no-nos from the running community until we started working together on training.
But yeah, HS kids trying to copy pros to the letter is ridiculous.

Nope. It's not the job of girls to run with mediocre boys. Let the girls' team do their own training. Don't inflict mediocre boys on them, even if their training paces might be similar.
