One of the best finds since the photo of the runner going 90 degrees. Baggy shorts match too IMO.

If he comes back to the Phoenix Marathon next year, I volunteer to follow him with a head-mounted GoPro. If he is not cheating, he will have nothing to hide. In fact, he should be thrilled that someone wants to document his record-breaking run.

He won't run a legit race again, book it Dano! Like Kip Litton, too many people will be watching and he's not going to be able to maintain that pace for more than a very, very, very, very, very, very, very...short time.
This thread is both good and bad. Good for obvious reasons. Bad because now Meza will never run a legit race again. Would’ve been nice for all this to be on the down low so he could have surreptitiously been caught red handed. Oh well. There’s enough proof already.
What a travesty. wrote:

And why does it matter? Well if it doesn't, then we might as well have Rosie Ruiz put back in the record books as the official winner of the 1980 Boston Marathon.

I disagree. I sense Derek's urgency is so that the records aren't ratified.
Ironically, if he were trying to BQ, he'd have been found out a lot sooner.
I am ok with doling out my opinion. (or two..) Firstly, this thread reeeks of trolls. (internet rabblerousers just because) This thread would be 80% less without their contributions. The so-called sleuths, (those that are not trolls) are kind of geeky in their attention to details. YET, their is much assumption. Assumption that Frank Meza is guilty for NOT being photographed. Come on. Take that one to court. Good luck. I mentioned 3 races (Long beach Oct. 2018 2:53:27, Phoenix Feb 2019 2:53:54 and LAM Mar 2019 2:53:10) Let noone say that finding pictures From Phoenix is a find. I posted them on page 41. I first viewed them before I started this thread. (when I found out about FM,s Phoenix time, of course I wanted to see the pictures) I guess it did not occur to me to post them when I started the Frank Meza 2:53:54 thread on LR. Or on this thread. My bad. The trolls on this thread clearly drove away Gene Dykes. I assure you that was Gene Dykes participating on this thread. That ended around page 14. His polite comment on his facebook page made mention of some real characters on LR. We would have benefited a lot from his continued contributions. Too bad. I hope Doublers' article delves into more than split times, missing mats and missing pictures, or even suspicious pictures and videos, and the way Frank Meza looks when running. I hope he is succeeding in getting Frank Meza to either admit his guilt or give explanation for everything that makes people believe he is cheating. I can't wait for Tuesday. Though if you read Doublers' post, he left clues as to his results.
what a sadsackocrap this guy turned out to be.
BS! Our only assumption was that there was possibly hope for you, long gone. Keep trolling...
I should review my posts before pushing the button. I left out the part about mentioning Phoenix 2:53:54 on PAGE ONE. (around the 10th post) Did we miss something? Nothing is different than what was there all along. I looked at those pictures in light of the newly brought up suspicions, to see the times of the runners Frank is with. The way Frank looked is the way he always looks. I do not see what "find" is being found here. I certainly hope Doublers report would not be an extension of that type of "investigation".
Do you really not know that I had you figured out long ago. The slimiest troll here. Get a life. Take up running perhaps.
Guilty of organizing 5 transcons, newb!
Roderick, you are all over the place.
1. There are clear photos of Frank re-entering the course.
2. There are IMPROBABLE split times in multiple races. Those two 18:30s on the back half of a blistering LAM are impossible.
3. Yes, there are trolls here but I’m sure Gene Dykes is focusing his attention on training.
4. Even though you are a solid age group runner you clearly lack understanding of pacing/splits and high level performance.
5. Every photo sequence where Frank appears running side by side 2:50 marathoners shows him getting left in the dust in a matter of meters.
6. CIM 2014 invalidates a “reputable” doctor’s performance. A doctor who had already run SEVEN age graded performances of 2:25 or faster that year would surely have proof of a legitimate performance and contest the ruling. CIM 2014 HAD HARD EVIDENCE.
7. By 2018 the good doctor is running with two watches, a fanny pack, and most likely a phone (judging by the baggy shorts). Surely between those three devices he would have some GPS data to vindicate himself!

Seriously, if I had the strong feelings about Frank Meza cheating, that you and others claim to have...I would have either busted him..or been proven wrong so long ago. Not rocket science. As stated here many times by many posters...just show up and run with him..how much easier does it get. I may just do that this year as part of my warm-up for the half-marathon which starts 90 minutes after the full marathon starts. Just depends on the logistics. Watch him start 48 seconds after the gun goes off and pass hundreds of runners. I imagine I would get a good half mile to mile in before knowing the truth.
Don't forget to add to the list #8. :
These three marathons in a six month period for 70 year old Frank is just so far beyond ridiculous that it's in to the realms of sheer fantasy. Even Ed Whitlock and Gene Dykes, who actually look the part, would struggle to do that trio of runs. What say you Gene?

Some people have such a simplistic view of the world. You did mention logistics.
1. Just show up. Pay the marathon entry fee?
2. Run with him. Find him hiding in a corral of thousands or in the back of a race?
3. Follow him off course and for how long? What if he discovered you following him? He could just feign an injury or sickness and the investigation is useless. What if you lost him while following him off the course? Would you have to find him again hopping back on the course? Non believers like you would just keep on making excuses.
It's actually Meza with a Z. I'm with you. The most damning evidence is the video from LAM 2018. Both for what Frank was doing, and the 3 or 4 minutes of him running. An expert on running analysis could surely determine a lot about his running ability. It did not impress me, but I am no expert. If someone asked me what I thought about Frank Meza's times being legit...I would say truthfully that everything points toward no...and yet, if that is true...how many people who run with Frank, including his family members would certainly know too, that he is incapable of those times, one would think...certainly the high schoolers...but then maybe not...to them Frank and all us who run 6:30 pace for 5k are slowpokes.

The phone is carried in the left pocket, but not for anything to do with GPS data:

You have no clue about Gene Dykes. That's why he posted on this thread. two weeks before his 2:54 in Jacksonville he ran CIM on Saturday and an ultra on Sunday (or vice versa on the days) Look on athlinks his races the last year or so, you will be shocked. Some ultras may be missing too. https://www.athlinks.com/athletes/39707184?&term=gene%20dykes&category=global
