based on where the photos are taken and the splits, it's clear that fm cut the course, got in front of runners 1186 and 6380 only to be passed by those two runners (likely in the final mile or so as he rolled in at 8:20 pace).
derek, what more do you need? i've donated to your site and I (along with others) have done the leg work to provide sufficient evidence that fm cheated in numerous races (e.g., the la marathon 2019, 2018, 2015, the 2019 sprouts phoenix marathon , 2019 pasadena half, the 2018 la half marathon, numerous long beach marathons, etc., etc., etc.).
fm, come clean before derek exposes you for the cheat you are.
Nice work. I'll add to that, that the guy in the photo series right after them is #8065 (stocky guy in blue singlet). He had a clock finish time of 1:25:48 but his race involved starting relatively slowly and getting progressively faster. His splits were :
5k (clock time): 21:36
10k (clock time) 42:01
15k (clock time) 1:02:22
The point being, if you compare his splits with the runners you mentioned, 1186 and 6380, the blue guy was nearly 2 minutes behind them at 5k and didn't start closing the gap until after 15k. So the only time he could have been close to those guys was the start and near the end. So these photos have to be either near the start or near the end. The photos clearly aren't at the start, so that is just further proof that the photos were taken near the end of the race. So for those runners coming through in that order to make sense, Meza would have had to have made up roughly 3 minutes on them between 15k and the finish (i.e. less than 4 miles), only to then lose 2 minutes of it back. This would be possible if he ran 15k to 20k at about 5:30 pace, got photographed, then slowed to 10-minute mile pace for the last 1k or so. There just aren't any plausible scenarios for an old man to be able to do that.

FYI, Gene Dykes really did contribute on this thread. Separately, he let me know that single age world records ended a year or two ago. He spoke with them, even voluteering to keep it going by doing the updates and work himself, but they never got back to him. So, I think that is why their are no more updates. As in Bernard Lagats' destroying of the single age records in all distances for 40 plus.

ARRS is no longer providing updates because Ken Young was -- incredibly -- doing all of that stuff by himself, by hand, for all of those years, right up until his death early last year. I would think that IAAF has something similar, though I would probably trust Ken's statistics over the IAAF's, at least in these areas.

Someone posted a while back that these photos demonstrating that Meza was running a lot slower than people he is photographed with were taken in the last mile of the Pasadena Half as runners make a right turn to the stadium.

Absolutely a factor in many of these cases. FM wants to keep working & have status because of his work, while also running great times.
