There's some truth in that too.

A lot of people including myself have compared Frank to Rosie Ruiz . There is a huge difference between the two. Ruiz was truly a troubled soul who did not have anything going for her. She most likely didn’t realize that she finished first female and didn’t really have much of a plan. I see her as a tragic figure.
Frank on the other hand is a doctor, well spoken and I guess a well respected member of the community. He schemed and executed a plan to cheat for at least 10 years . Cheating wasn’t enough, he needed an age group world record. He will be remembered for this well after his death like Ruiz.
The hits in his local community keep coming:
Wow, just did a Google image search for frank meza then Tools - Time - Past 24 Hours.

I wouldn't do that. You'll swamp the photo sites' bandwidth and they'll make it harder for people to browse the photos for future cases.
What if I limit it to only being able to download 100 at a time? That's not strenuous.
Go for it. I think it's a great idea and will lead to even more sightings of Frank in weird and wonderful places.
I know I'll use it for sure.

Just dropped in to say that I am really, REALLY impressed by the sleuths on this thread. Impressive work.
Good job!
I'll second that! Great job. Keep the hits coming.
Derick, you should now have enough for 2 more DQ's, right?
FWIW, you should form a partnership with deadesq and a few others.
I am working my way backwards through the thread. I've been in email contact with deadesq. I've worked with others in the past that are adept at data scraping. I hope to collaborate with deadesq going forward. Being able to sequentially pull the Marathonfoto pictures is a huge asset to investigations, as evidenced here.

Yes, there's a difference between the life circumstances of Meza and Ruiz, but I don't have an iota of sympathy for Ruiz nor do I see her as any kind of "tragic figure." She's a cold, calculating, remorseless individual who later on embezzled $60k from her own employer and then tried to become a minor league Queen of the South. If she had half a chance she'd rob you blind, then you look straight in the eye and deny having done it, just as she still denies having cheated at Boston.
What she did to Jacqui Gareau at Boston is unforgivable. Tragic? No, just plain disgusting.
I agree with you. I guess rereading what I wrote makes it look like I am diminishing what she did. I was really trying to make a point that she was a complete loser and criminal. She pretty much did was expected of her. Frank on the other hand is a Doctor for Pete’s sake. Also agree on your point about Gareau. She had her victory stolen from her and had to wait a few days to get her day.

When you get a moment, would you mind taking a look at the Zapruder film? Thanks.
Frank's sterling community image is likely just that: an image. Pathology like this doesn't come out of thin air. He probably got where he is today via the same course-cutting, cheating methodology.
As a (very good) bio major, I dealt with many pre-meds in classes and study groups, and later dated several doctors. I can assure you that the medical world is anything but fully respectable from the inside. Many are well-intentioned, scrupulous people. But many, many others are scamming, lowlife sharks. We are seeing one of them in action, emerging from the depths to snatch approval from his peers and underlings.
Why, Frank, Why? Like most of y'all, for the last few months,I've regularly pondered Frank's motive: Was it for money (however indirectly)? Notoriety? Resumé boosting? Credibility within the running community? A place in the history books? Did he do it out of jealous or spite? Or was he simply deluded? Then I reviewed the VERY FIRST POST:

Great race Frank. Wow!
I think that's it. That's why he did it: to elicit compliments just like this.
It was all about stroking his ego (with a dash "gotcha!" glee on top -- as in "Fools! Suckers! I sure pulled another 'fast' one on THEM!").
First time I met Frank (4 years ago), he managed to weave into our first conversation a humble-brag about how he was a champion marathon runner in his age group. My response? A facsimile of Roderick Powell's compliment that kicked off this thread. "Wow, that's amazing! Kudos for you!" I said, or words to that effect ...
... exactly the same kind of ego-stroking that's been falsely feathered upon Frank for 10+ years, every time he casually mentioned his "accomplishments."
There is little on earth so unstable, so reckless, so fragile, and so dangerous as the (male) ego.
Frank,
Take a lesson from one of your predecessors in the Almanac of Athletic Cheaters:
"Shoeless" Joe Jackson of the Chicago White Sox,
banned from baseball for life for his role in throwing the 1919 World Series.
When the scandal broke big, legend has it that Shoeless Joe, leaving a Chicago court house (under indictment), came upon a massive throng of teens and pre-teens , waiting and pacing outside, there to see/support/mourn their hero. As Jackson descended the steps, a kid approached him and grabbed him by the arm, saying, "It ain't true, is it, Joe?"
"Yes, kid, I'm afraid it is," Jackson answered.
(Per the Chicago Daily News, "The boys opened a path for the ball player and stood in silence until he passed out of sight. "Well, I'd never have thought it," sighed the lad.)
Okay, yes, Jackson really WAS a great athlete, while you are not, and it seems never were.
But the point is, he had the sack & the integrity to EVENTUALLY man up and ADMIT HE CHEATED.
Do the right thing, Frank, for all the Atzlan kids and Loyola Cubs, that massive throng of teens and pre-teens, waiting and pacing for YOU to descend the steps and TELL THE TRUTH.
Why did he do it? wrote:

Think you hit the nail on the head there, it was all about the humble-brag.
Now the how and who was involved in the aiding and abetting?
Now you have shown that you are a moran.

Admittedly, after poring over literally tens of thousands of photographs for the last week, I am tired. And a bit punchy.
I think I will step away from this saga for a bit now, as I think the point has been made about Frank.
I hope I've added materially to the discussion, even if I throw in the odd giggle like this one. No offense meant. Moranic, moronic, or otherwise.
Some people suffer from sense of humour failure, so don't worry about it. Anyway, in the meantime happened upon this doing a Google search, worth a rerun for a bit of a laugh:

Don't know if you've done this yet, but if you click on the above gif it'll take you to the site where it seems easier to view.
It's definitely him, the red shoes really confirm it.
