Nice post mate! Excellent point about the very little evidence back 40 years ago and he still got disqualified, I did not know that till now.

Amby's time in 1968 was nowhere near being a record, but if he had lost the Boston Marathon to a cheater in 1968 and was robbed of that first place...I think he'd feel differently.
How so?

You can't be serious. I'll let someone else explain it to you, but feel free to post your email address if you still don't get it. I'm going running now.

How could coach Diaz, a running coach, not know what was going on? perhaps the threat to Amby was because he knows or even assisted.

Coach Diaz has a pretty good resume/reputation, it would be a shame if he really threw it away defending FM.

This is assuming the person who called was actually Coach Diaz, and not Frank Meza (or anyone else).
Yep, all this dishono(u)rs a real runner Ed Whitlock, who did the miles in a public place, and took no drugs, even aspiron.
FM has inspired me, too. To keep on the cheaters.
The biggest take away I took from the article was that he was already in the LA marathon's radar as a potential cheater in 2015!
They wanted him to run with an observer in 16 and he declined, then just went back to cheating as normal in 17, 18 and 19.
Now he's been caught. There is incontrovertible evidence that shows he cheated. LA's response is, "we'll ask him to run with an observer next year"
What the hell would it take to get a DQ from the LA Marathon? Do you have to have an observer hop off the course and get into a car with you?!?!?!?
His school should be a bit easier to pressure than races, unfortunately. Most runners can’t win a prize that FM can steal, but parents don’t want their kids in schools full of scumbags.
People should have been alerted back when Frank cited Norbert Sudhaus as his life inspiration as a runner

I wondered the same thing about the 2018 LA Marathon pics. Starts the race with eyeglasses, is seen in the middle with no glasses anywhere, and finishes with sunglasses.
I have long thought about starting a business where I comb through results, course photos, etc. for RDs to find cheaters. I’ll consult on course issues dealing with the ability to cheat.
I’m going to put something together over the next couple of weeks and start soliciting races.

Not enough cheaters to go around. Derek already has the market cornered and he still has to go after bandits and bib forgers to make ends meet.

I’m not going to do a blog. I’m going to work with races as a consultant.

Here ya go: If Amby had set a record, even an age-group record, Amby would not have liked it one bit. If Amby was even back in 20th place overall and took second in his age-group, he would not have stood still if the guy who won his age-group had jumped in during the later miles and finished ahead of him.
Does that help? If not I'm sincerely sorry but you're on your own sir as that's as clear as I can be.

He doesn't like Frank's running "achievements" one bit either. So I don't see how "he'd feel differently" than he currently does.

Derek already does that, but perhaps there's a market for more.

Pretty sure he's saying Burfoot would take it way more personally if it had happened to him.
