Li still is coach, he doesn't seem to attract too much top class talent.

This University has a corrupt culture that at the best, fails to oversee rogue and abusive management or worse, sanctions abusive behaviors by those who should know and act better. Everyone knows that multiple seven-figure lawsuits are in process against the Arizona Board featuring hostile working environment, discrimination and abuse in various measures.
Whatever the merits of this specific new case, there's a very big problem that needs cleaning up and it extends far beyond the athletic department.

The stinky history is long and deep and includes fVcks like Timothy Slater who was responsible for ongoing sexual harassment and bullying. In spite of internal "investigations" he was shipped off to another U and there was horror when this background was discovered. He even bleated about his "career being destroyed..." by release of this info... when in any ethical universe he should have been immediately dismissed following the internal "investigation" and then subjected to multiple s.h. lawsuits by grad students...
How about another disgusting abusive and dangerous fVck harbored by the University of Arizona for a looong time, Dr. Lyle Bootman... they still pay this guy in spite of his disturbing, nasty, gruesome behaviors...
There's also the FBI arrest of former bball coach, the ongoing Sean Miller issue,
This university needs the Board to appoint independent oversight over the entire corrupted regime before it will get cleaned up. The current "values" come from the top and allow and excuse daily practice for malfeasant, abusive and criminal managers, coaches and bosses like all of those involved above.
The dirt is deep. Keep away.
re you his accountant? How do you know they're multimillionaires?
According to the athlete, the order of events is the coach grabs his wrists, throws him down, he faints, then gets a bloody nose. If he faints after he’s “thrown down” (and I take that as thrown down to the floor), how does he bloody his nose while lying unconscious on the floor?
It sounds like he threw a whopper of a fit, and those around him got worried for his well-being. Additionally, people who assault someone rarely are the one’s to call the cops to the scene. Lastly, grabbing someone’s wrists is usually done to restrain someone or keep them from harming themselves or others. If your intent is to shove someone, you go for the shoulders, back, etc.
I feel sorry for the guy, but if he has mental health issues, he needs help and support, not a law suit.
What a Nancy. Maybe he should change his behavior instead of expecting everyone to change to cater to him.
Definitely a liberal crybaby. He exaggerated his accomplishments and now exaggerates his treatment.
Grabowski had a 3.80 GPA the previous semester. That does not sound to me like someone who doesn't take responsibility for his actions. This is a troubled program at a university that is at the forefront of many negative trends in academia, and their previous treatment of the Craig Carter affair should tell you all you need to know about their claims in the case. This was a 9:13 high schooler with 20 scholarship offers and he probably wound up there because they had the highest profile (Pac 10) of any of the schools and the best offer. He alleged hazing and taunting by the top athletes, plus he was not performing well on the track or in xc in college, and that is why this happened. Arizona administration, time to stand up and take responsibility for your actions and a program out of control. They do badly with their distance athletes anyway.
Yes. Getting books at Arizona was the best offer that he received.
A 3.8 GPA tells you NOTHING about whether he takes responsibility for his actions. You sound like his father. This kid is trouble and troubled with enabler parents. Any person that knows Fred Harvey understands that he didn’t do this. Anyone that knows Craig Carter, knows he is crazy. Coach Harvey has been loyal to James Li and seems like he missed huge warning signs w Carter. Harvey did not assault this troublemaker.
How do you know his GPA (and frankly, it’s not all that relevant)?
Just a tip - If you are close to the plaintiff - strong factual cases really don’t need litigating on a message board, and doing so can cause more harm than good. You should probably stop.
And you have proof of this? the article clearly says "he said he had a 3.80"... which is far different from "Grabowski provided transcripts showing a 3.80 current gpa at UA..." also, what does it matter f they do well w distance athletes or not? Irrelevant.

It says his GPA in the article. Maybe you should read it before forming opinions.

Read it and forgot that tidbit, probably because, as I said before, his GPA is irrelevant to the claims at hand.

Just admit you were too lazy to read it.

Another baseless accusation in the #metoo era. Let the coach freaking coach! If he wants to get a little physical let him do so!
Bullying is standard behaviour for male team sports . The only way to deal with it is take aggressive actions when you are a freshman.
How many different ways can you spell this kid's name in one paragraph?
Grawbowski says he told assistant track coaches last August that two teammates were bullying him and other team members, and directing sexual slurs at him. The 19-year old sophomore says he was summoned to a meeting last Sept. 12 with head coach Fred Harvey and other staff members. Grabowski claims Harvey told him that he was “removed from the roster” and that his scholarship was revoked. Grabowsky became upset, prompting an athletic trainer to call 911. The trainer told the operator that Grabowski, “had thoughts of suicide recently.”

Read my first post. I read the story. his version of events three times actually, before I commented, as I wanted to get the order of his version of events straight.
Again, his GPA is irrelevant, his story of the wrist grabbing and fainting makes no sense, and his parents moving to AZ is off the charts goofy.

Pretty hilarious how the knee jerk reaction here is to blame the accusers.
That's because this website and this society are both full of bullies and bully enablers.

Parents moving with their son from New York to Tuscon tells you everything in this story.
Yeah, it tells you they wanted to move from New York to Tucson.
In my opinion that's a very good move. Also they wanted to be close to their son.
Good for them.

We don't have all the evidence and facts. We should reserve judgement and not call him a mental illness case before we see each sides' full arguments.
So far we've been apparently hearing from the 2 bullies in question, and the coach.
