Give me six months to live in the mountains. And I guarantee it I could beat sage in a MUT race.
Mr. Perspective, as if there's even one 2:12 or 1:02 guy on LR. At least Sage would only lose to a true global elite by a few minutes as opposed to hours for most of the clowns posting here.
Strawberry clown, you couldn't beat him if you had 2 years in the mountains. Not a chance on earth. Besides, running fast and flat is easy. Just ask Jim Walmsley and his 1:04 with 6 weeks of training....so he needs 6 weeks and you needs many, many months. But good talk.

Uhm, I'm sorry, but any raw red meat eater could beat any vegan in any race. Try again.

Have you lost your gag-reflex so more of Sage can fit in your mouth?
My god you’re a moron. Do some research before you post. “Quality protein”?? What a stupid conception. Totally debunked. Meb, while a nice guy by all accounts, is also foolish enough to believe in the bizarre rantings of superstitious goat-herders that is the bible. Every other word he utters is about his devotion to the fairy tale of Christian belief. Probably not a coincidence that most who decide to embrace this illogical path also love their steak and eggs.
That’s because endless, ever-mounting, readily-available, unbiased SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH show cholesterol, saturated fat, and animal protein are the cause of most every leading cause of death... and that the bible is f%#king nonsense.
The evidence is incontrovertible and it’s all around you. You literally have to be white-knuckling it to continue to have faith in meat, dairy, and eggs. That’s what faith is: a dogged belief in something *despite* zero supporting evidence—and, in these cases, despite the overwhelming preponderance of opposing evidence.
Sage is eating like a human animal should.
Also, Jesse Thomas is one of the best triathletes in the world and, this summer, did a 2:44 after annihilating a 2.4mi Swim and a 112mi ride to podium at Challenge Roth. And he was a scholarship runner at Stanford.
Sage does seem like he needs a recharge or a change of course though. I think just handing over the reins to a new coach would be a smart play.
Is Sage still running Rotterdam?
Actually, according to the Dictionary, Faith is: Complete trust or confidence in someone or something.
We all have faith in someone or something - that’s not the issue - it is whether or not what we have placed our faith in (whatever that may be) can bear the weight of truth. Just because you believe something, doesn’t make it true. Since faith is an action, whatever you actively trust in, must be able to bear the weight of truth (empirically verifiable, logically consistent, and experientially relevant)

Thank you for your respectful response to my rather disrespectful post.
I just think it’s a rather generous and not very rigorous way of looking at it.
My search result from Webster’s Dictionary returns this: “firm belief even in the absence of proof”; when you cut out the niceties, that really what you’re left with.
If a person chooses to believe in a god, and keeps that entirely to themselves without seeking to affect laws, politics, or others’ rights, then they are certainly free to do so.
I’m just demonstrating that such heuristics lead to predictably damaging consequences when applied to matters of diet, and that if one is willing to turn a blind eye to facts in one area, they’re probably likely to do so in other areas. Thus leading to saying grace over steak, eggs, and a cold glass of animal milk—which in turn leads one to saying prayers after one gets a heart attack, cancer, or type 2 diabetes.
Also, going way back (at least) to the Pritikin Diet for Runners, studies show super-high carb/low-fat/low-protein diets provide optimum fuel for human athletic performance. Including a modicum of animal products into one’s diet is fine, although probably not helpful.
they eat meat very rarely, only for cultural celebrations
they do drink milk in their tea, but I'm sure they would use almond milk if they got the chance
the majority of their calories comes from rice, beans, potatoes, ugali, and collard greens
sage is eating for health AND performance. y'all keep pounding the whey protein and scrambled eggs, he doesn't want that
And in your Blind Faith in biased and basically junk epidemiological "science", you are completely blind to the facts of human evolution, as well as physiology, to think that the most essential dietary items, that sustained us and our ancestors for over two million years, have suddenly become a major health risk, and that plant-derived, processed, low-nutrition foods laden with toxins, are "healthy" and "sustainable" despite the fact that many of them didn't even exist two generations ago. Your fear of cholesterol and saturated fat is like superstitious tribesmen fleeing "evil spirits", and demonstrates a completely primitive and outmoded concept of what real science is and how it is done.
Baahahahaha!! You’re actually asserting that “...the most essential dietary items that sustained us and our ancestors for over 2 million years” are meat, eggs, and dairy?!?!
Oh man, that’s rich. I haven’t had a good belly laugh like that in some time.
Try reading literally any book ever written by any competent and thinking person. We, and our ancestors, are f#%king APES bro. Look around you, do you see any apes making meals out of animal products? And don’t give me some bs about chimps eating meat as like
Homo sapiens, like many other animals, are omnivorous and have evolved as such. Your argument is a fallacy.
Now go look those two words in the dictionary :p

Nobody is stopping you, tell us your name and maybe even the race you plan on doing, and we will eagerly wait for the results within next six months.
And I don't want to hear that you're not actually going to live in the mountains and train because this and that, either put up or shut up.
The only thing that bugged me about Sage’s response is the excuse of the hilly course. He should dominate on a hilly course given his MUT background. A slow hilly course without Kenyans and Ethiopians? Come on, man! This is a perfect race for him.

You are another individual blinded by scientific dogma. Let me guess, you also believe in climate change, right?

Our ancestors were early genus Homo, which broke away from apes in order to pursue game. It's a concept called "evolution", which seems to elude plant-based mythologists. No actual paleontologist denies that these hominins were meat-eaters, as it resulted in the explosion of our brain size (though "plant-based"high-carbers are attempts at retrograde evolution into some kind of modern ape-like zombie hybrid).
Yes, exactly. The science is settled on this - vegetarianism is the primary risk factor for autism. My brain personally increased in size by 27% after I abandoned the dogma of veganism and switched to raw red meat.
Based on the last couple years performances Sage can no longer get into the first wave at Boston.
