As far as red meat goes, the science is pretty clear-cut that humans do not need it. East Africans eat red meat out of necessity as their diets would be deficient in calories without it. Go listen to the podcast with Dave McGillivary, , Amby Burfoot, and two leading cardiologists. Unless you want excess inflammation and heart disease, red meat should be rarely if ever consumed.
Amby Burfoot would be dead from his vegetarian diet if he wasn't a consistent runner. He has been emaciated his entire life which is visual testimony to the deficiencies of a no-meat diet.
Famous vegetarian runners who dropped dead from heart disease in their 50s: Micah True, Ric Sayre, Brian Maxwell. Famous omnivores who died from heart disease in their 50s: (none)
Red meat has top quality amino acids and healthy fatty acids, both of which are essential for health.
Plants have poor composition of amino acids, tons of antinutrients and toxins which bind minerals, and tons of carbohydrates, which are NOT essential for health and life, only provide low-nutrition short-term energy. Red meat is the only food which has been proven to support human health and vigor over long periods completely by itself.
