Sage, you don't have to apologize to anyone. It's not like there's even a one time OT qualifier on this board.
People should respect you simply for your transparency commenting on here.

Why would anyone listen to the bulk of the idiots on here? It's not like more than 1% can run remotely fast. Pros very rarely criticize other pros, so it's the clowns on here that have to do that. Like the guys who actually believe they are fast and who have trained for years to barely 2:40.
I just know Kenyans and Ethiopians who are running 10 minutes faster than sage in the half, they eat red meat(Ethiopians often eat raw beef) and drink raw whole milk. And considering that despite averaging 100 mile weeks for over a decade. He is still running the same times as he did in college. Lack of improvement despite consistent training, something not right. And if I was a betting man, I would bett on his diet cult he is apart of for the lack of improvement in his running.
Sage, you and I disagree by about 175 degrees on diet, but I have always appreciated your candor on your racing and training. Respect for the efforts.
Thanks for answering the Lets Run Trolls, even though you don’t need to explain anything to these trolls. Keep after it and being a better Sage!

He’s gotten way slower than Jim Walmsley. Crazy to see how veganism can destroy a running career.

Honestly, I don't know how he is able to avoid trolls like you as well as he does. If it were me, I'd be done with this site. The guy comes on here after what he feels is a disappointing performance when he could have easily just stayed away. Instead of respecting that and being glad that someone who is important enough to you that you are posting about him on the internet is actually engaging in the thread, you (and others) post BS comments like this.
Give it a rest and grow up.
My above post is directed at you as well...although I think you are the same person.

Coming on here to defend yourself shows incredible mental weakness and a fragile ego. It empowers the naysayers bc the response indicates you’ve given your power away to them to allow them to have that control and influence over you. A real man would let his legs do the talking with zero excuses and the need to defend himself bc he is confident in who he is and what he does - irregardless of others opinions.
It says a lot about your character that you engage with people very differently when you are online and anonymous than you likely do when you see them face-to-face.
I hope you grow up some day. Hopefully you are 15 and this is just a phase.
I respect Sage for coming on here and answering questions. I didn’t mean this as a troll thread at all but was wondering what happened. Sage should be able to beat Thomas and win that race. I think he knows that too. Hopefully he gets healthy or alters his training and get back to winning.
He’s been vegetarian his whole life so I don’t think that’s the issue either for whats it worth.
Same could be said for you

Thomas is as good of a runner as Sage, if not better. Thomas is in peak shape and training for the half marathon specifically. Sage has admitted being in less than peak fitness and he's training for 50+ mile races. 1:09:06 on that course is probably 1:07:30 at Houston. Not bad for being an injured, out of shape old guy.

If I saw the other poster (or you, if it's you) in real life, I would gladly tell you to stop being a troll and stop thinking that your words are harmless entertainment so long as you can hide behind your anonymous keyboard.
Sage is one of the few voluntary athletes on that no PED's program, right Sage?
You can't compare it with most elite atlhetes or East Africans who don't want to get on that program voluntarily either. Now how many of you have runa 2:16 something or faster???
Also as he said his training is for ultras no halfs, not marathons. And also I know he is not vegan but vegetarian right/?

Max just referred to Sage as an injured, out of shape old guy?! lol
I don’t follow this runner but I don’t see the need for the attacks and negativity.
I respect him for rebutting while taking the high road without stooping to the levels of some of you ‘haters.’
Whatever your goals are Sage, here’s one older guy that sincerely wishes you success.
Allen
Thanks Sage for the inside, honest scoop. As they sang at the end of Tommy: Following you, I see the millions.
Getting old is tough. Letting go of yesterday’s goals is even harder. Run for you and stop trying to run times that will impress others.
IAAF just ruined the Walmsley-Surprise at the Trials...
Because all vegan athletes are slow and weak... Respect to Sage!
Great response Sage.
What people don't realize is that you can't replicate your very best efforts forever. You will peak at one one point and just a few years later you have to realize that that was your peak effort.
Sure 1:09 is not a sub 60 minute Half Marathon but I am pretty sure Sage knows that too. It would be fun to know what the original posters HM time is. Mine is sub 1:29 so quite a lot slower.
Like probably every other aging athlete I am not really happy about my own crappy performance but it is still better to get your butt out there and compare yourself with other runners no matter how old you are. In that regard I admire every runner from fast to slow that they enter the arena.
So Not Fast But Furious what is your HM PR and what was your last HM result?
