I know others here ran, please confirm the following.
The mile markers for 7 and 8 added up to about 2.5 miles and then mile 8-9 was only about 800-1000 meters. I thought my watch was off and that I slowed considerably, and then suddenly I was back on overall pace and my watch was bang on. Such an F up by NYRR, it really screwed with my pacing. Still PR’d at 1:18 but for $130 I’d expect the mile markers to not be half a mile off. Ridiculous.
Yes, I noticed the same thing. I wasn’t sure what was up , my watch, too much side to side running? All of a sudden, I was back on track, almost exactly. I use Stryd foot pod to estimate my distance.

The watch was far more accurate...if I were running by feel and only seeing the mile markers tick by I’d have been far more deceived.

Why are you paying attention to mile markers? Kilometer markers are more frequent. Much easier to pace by kilometers instead of miles.

Wouldn't have had this problem if you set your watch to kilometers.
This is from someone who averaged 6:10 pace. Agree that for $10/mile you should expect an accurately marked course.
It's understandable to get 2 miles off because only one marker has to be displaced, but how do you get 2 markers off essentially the same distance before an accurate marker corrects it?

Almost like the LRC expose of the Abu Dhabi marathon, they had to change the course due to fish market access after it had been firstly measured, and didn't bother to readjust the internal km readings.
