Solid result from Brogan Austin. He seems to have validated his win at CIM. I’m rooting for him to have one more breakthrough, break 2:10 and/or make the Olympic team.

I knew he wasn't a joe blow. The reason why i wrote "holy smoly" is I wanted to draw attention to it. If I had to have a complaint of the NYRR, I'd say it's that there races are often a bit choreographed. But I don't really blame them. They know it's not very good story telling to invite 10 runners no one knows to run a race. So they try to tell stories. The problem is when you have almost no truly elite males in a race, someone may notice that and enter on their own and take down the 20k.

Interesting thread. Raising some interesting ideas of what goes on at the top of the field, and concerns of those top runners… You mean even at the top, they know some races the competition is pretty skimpy? (Not on the women's side for this race, though, I suppose, when they have the current WR holder at the distance.) Here’s a list of the pro runners
