Lol, they are making the women's winner go through the tape again for a picture since the fun runner was racing her to the line.

Kenya and Ethiopia share the spoils equallly! Ethiopian men go 1-2 with a Kenyan finishing 3rd. Kenyan women go 1-2 with an Ethiopian finishing 3rd! Wow, what a rivalry between the two nations!
The elite men almost barreled into a fun runner mugging for the camera with about a 1/2 mile to go.
There was a white painted line that looked like the finish line about 40m before the actual finish line.
I just feel bad for whoever was in the ambulance stopped in traffic with their lights on. Hopefully they learn their lessons this year.
Correction: Kenyan Bernard Ngeno won the men's race. So Kenya takes home $200,000 Ethiopia goes home DEVASTED!
That's also what I saw for the men. But the results page indicates something else.
If you don't already feel bad enough for Jemal Yimer, remember that he had already lost one half marathon this year (Houston) after he was in the lead and lost momentum after following the lead truck off the course near the finish:
Well, maybe I got it wrong. With the picture quality I get and the darkness, it was hard to tell.
The most DEVASTATED guy (and this time it really means something) has to be YIMER ! What possessed to stop early after seeing a white line on the ground. Any "fun runner" worth his salt would have expected a timing mat and an arch !
Anyone see if Molla dropped out after 15k? He has a 15k split but doesn't appear in the final results. I wonder what his plans for the year are.
Abadi Hadis won the race in 59:46. He closed the last 5k in 13:26. Yimer was second in 59:48 (13:28 last 5k).
Ah thanks, I have not gone mad yet. An issue with the chips then.
Brigid Kosgei won the women's race in 1:05:28, closing the last 5k in 14:48!. Beast mode ( 1:02:30 hm pace )
He needs to take the Wonderlic test

Well, he stands quite dignified on the podium. To be honest, none of the runners shows much emotion.
Such a pity this race wasn't organised better. It was chaotic and awful pacing. Also it was a bit too hot&humid. Kosgei was in WR shape, absolutely no doubt about it. Hadis&Yimer were in my opinion very close to WR shape too. Hadis' form is just so efficient and beautiful.

Where in the world did Kiptum finish? Hope this isn't the end for him.

He hit the 10km in 29:08 (on pace) then DNF'd it seems:
https://www.athlinks.com/event/310831/results/Event/846751/Course/1552120/Bib/1I consider myself a bit of a running nerd and I LIVE in Bahrain and I had no idea this was happening until I read the preview this morning. I still have no idea where the course was. Also interesting that this was held on the anniversary of the crushing of the Bahraini rebellion when Saudi tanks rolled into the country (at the request of the Bahrain king ) and put down the Arab spring.
You live in Bahrain? I did the Bahrain Marathon a few years ago. It looks like it was on the same course as the half, southwest of the island, in Zallaq.
