I know a lot of professional runners may be considered a little underweight with BMIs hovering between 17.5-18.5. But what about if someone’s BMI was lower than that? Like 16?
The reason I ask is because lately I’ve been running a lot of mileage and have been feeling good. But I have noticed a loss of strength and feeling of weakness in my arms. I also notice that my legs often tire out way before my legs do in races ranging from 2 miles to 800m. I’m also awful at the 800 compared to the 2 mile. I weighed myself this morning because I was curious and the scale read 110.2 pounds. I am 5’8.5 which puts my BMI at 16.6. Is that really bad?
I feel like I should gain weight but am confused on how to do it. I am in the middle of my senior year of track and cannot stop running now so how can I gain weight to make me healthier while still keeping up with all my training?
