New Trier, other north shore Chicago burb schools lead the way for "special accommodations" on ACT.
"The accommodations, including extra hours and even multiple days to finish the exam, are designed to even the playing field for students who struggle with tests because of disabilities"
"more likely to come from an affluent family"
They didn’t think their kids could legitimately be admitted to these universities without trying to game the system. Man, oh, man, if there has ever been an open, up-front illustration of leftist white privilege, I don’t know what else it is. And then, of course, the elite universities have to have somebody there participating in this! Somebody had to know. The ACT, ACT administrators, whichever, whoever were involved, had to be involved with this ’cause somebody’s getting the bribe money.
It was using their wealth and using their privilege. In fact, somebody just sent me a tweet here from Lori Loughlin that went back to February 25th of this year… No! Yeah, I guess it is. Tweet: “There are more important things than money. Like doing the right thing. Words to live by.” That is a Lori Loughlin tweet. Now, you know who it is that says there’s more to life than money?
David Mamet is defending them with the wrong argument. I'm throwing out my GGR DVDs. Always be cheating.
If they have fewer than 50% of the student body white, and the vast majority of the 29% (at Harvard) admitted from the four categories above are white, then there is an enormous number of white applicants (constituting more than 60% of the U.S. population) competing for less than 20% of the total slots. So, these programs essentially crowd out the middle class and poor, regardless of race, and then provide some slots for the ultra rich and wealthy minorities. Almost none of the students are from the bottom economic quartile, very few even the bottom half, the vast majority from the top 10% of wealth, very little of that being so-called natural talent or hard work.
Yes, in action, Ivanka, Don Jr., and the genius of the family, Donald J. Trump.
You're partially right.
But where it all falls down is that you're quoting a multi millionaire who supports a billionaire who got into Wharton and avoided going to Vietnam for the exact same reasons these kids got into colleges they didn't deserve to get into. People need to stop blindly following their political party/side like it's their favorite college football team.
While there were some left leaning celebrities involved so wee CEO's and coaches, what are their politics?

Absolutely braindead
I know people on that list.... too funny!

On that article, 29% of Harvard admits were either director's list types (children or relatives of big donors), recruited athletes, legacies, and children of Harvard faculty. Over 10% of the 2018 admits were children/relatives of big donors, 192 students! The vast majority of these are white. A certain percentage of admits are based on race, geographic location, musical instruments, projected majors, and means to pay (they say they dropped that criterion years back but the student body has parents making over $200k on average). So, admissions based solely on academic quality constitutes a small percentage of admits, and the middle class and poor are almost entirely crowded out.
Sad, isn't it? That the percentage of those admitted on academic merit is so small.
That these desperate parents would pay as much as $1.2M (the Yale "soccer" player) to fudge their kids' ATHLETIC achievements to get into academic institutions shows how messed up college admissions is!
I guess these parents' biggest failing is that they weren't rich enough to be able to donate a new building or lab like the uber-rich would in order to guarantee their kid got in (/sarcasm).

She put her money where her mouth is. Giving $500K to charity!
But LRC haters ruin her, simply becuz her daughters aren't up to the apocryphal "atheltic" standards??
Don't blame the victim, instead make the NCAA responsible for these congames in the first place.
This is where she hatched the idea?
https://theblast.com/lori-loughlin-college-bribery-scheme-rowing-rely-tampon/Back in 1980, Loughlin starred on the TV soap, “The Edge of Night,” which was produced by Procter & Gamble.
P&G also produced a superabsorbent line of tampons called, Rely, and tapped Loughlin to be the face of a magazine print ad.
Wearing a white swimsuit, a very young future star was seen rowing her motorboat to shore “after the motor conked out.” Unfortunately for Rely, the product was recalled later that year by P&G after discovering the superabsorbent tampons were the cause for a drastic rise in toxic shock syndrome among women.
However, the advertisement may have had an impact on Loughlin, who allegedly staged her daughters, along with husband Mossimo Gianullis, as crew coxswains for the L.A. Marina Club team.

STFU. Trump is a vile POS who deserves prison time for being one of the worse human beings on the planet.
He NEEDS a prison train, that’s what he YEARNS.
Felicity Huffmann: “Every woman and girl has the right and deserves the opportunity to pursue their dreams and live up to their fullest potential without the barrier of poverty,”
The 50 people who were indicted for allegedly paying bribe money to get their kids into college may just be the tip of the iceberg, and scores of very nervous and very rich parents are calling around L.A. trying to get recon. Sources familiar with the case tell TMZ, FBI agents have seized numerous cell phones and other evidence they believe will lead them to other parents, college employees and others who might have participated in admissions bribery.
And, one final thing, as for USC ... we know officials are furious at the parents who engaged in bribery. They say it has tarnished the school, the students and the athletic programs.
Yeah, now we know how he got into Wharton wrote:

But, unfortunately, this is nothing new. I heard about a particular individual—let’s call him “individual-1”—who’s rich real estate daddy bought his way into Wharton AND got him out of having to serve in ‘Nam by making some BS story about bone spurs. What’s worse is subsequently “individual-1” then bought his daughters way into Wharton many years later. Pathetic.
LOL! Too true. Not that it’s good or okay but this type of thing has been happening for a loooong time with college admissions. What struck me is the number of CEOs indicted. Which is also not surprising.
Our country worships a$$-hat MBA-types who’s entire worldview is based on lying, cheating and getting ahead by screwing over people and pushing the legal envelope to see what they can get away with.
