Updated with videos below
Athing Mu was still full of smiles after her loss. Said her legs didn't feel great and goal was to try and win and go sub 2:00.

Her coach Al Jennings said plan is for Athing to still go to college. As for the loss, he said Athing needs to learn losing is part of her sport. He said her last loss at 800 to non pros was a couple of years ago and she cried after that loss. He told her then, losing was part of the deal and today Athing was full of smiles.
Said they have done some local TV and radio after breaking the American record at 600 but that Athing's workouts have gone very well. A NY Times reporter was on hand and is going to be doing a profile on Athing.

As for the new freshman record holder Roisin Willis, she said she came in running for 2nd, but saw Mu coming back to her at the end of the race.

Niiice. Blasted Mu away. Is Willis now the greatest thing in HS track?
-
I don’t have the exact splits but pretty sure Mu’s 400m was sub 2 pace, she started slowing down a lot after that.
She was very well spoken in the post race interview though, didn’t seem very dissapointed at all considering the rest of her season. -
Takes down a thing? What thing?
-
We were ready 3 weeks ago to give Mu the US championship this summer and now she is back to just being a good high school runner. Girls are funny.
-
Now the BroJos can get back to micragressively criticizing Tuohy’s training and career accomplishments.
-
Mu went out in 59, not the best idea

How old is she? Wondering if she has gone through puberty and the associated changes to female athletes' bodies. -

She's a freshman so don't crown her a world beater yet. Too soon to know how good she will ultimately be. Hopefully people have learned from the likes of Mary Cain and that Florida girl, her name escapes me, but she went to Heritage High. She was big a few years ago. Now she seems to have fizzled out.
Daisha something? -

How else do you run sub-2?
Guess she could go out in 63 and finish in 56.9, but I don't think that is very likely. -

Yes, I go out in 1:59 every week to go sub 4 in the mile but always end up running 4:20.

Sub 2 haha wrote:

0/10. When you’ve gone 1:23 for 600m, you can pretty reasonably make an attempt for sub-2, so going out in 59 was not that unreasonable. -
What's her f***** mileage? And workouts? I searched all the web and there are no interviews or training schedules of her. Anyone got inside info?

Good on Athing for taking the loss well and being such an understanding sport. Everybody has off days.

Many Women and girls have a really short period of time that they hit their lifetime peak performances. Maybe we are witnessing Mu’s.

Anyone remember 2015 outdoor NB? Kelati won the 5k as an overaged underclassmen while Ping was 2nd place as a 7th grader. Ping should be world class by now had she developed along with her peer 7th graders.
