Timed with Freelap. He ran it in reverse indicating a slight tailwind but that's pretty good. Maybe he'll break 11 after all.

Shocked he wasn't able to hit it faster.
If/when Symmonds gets his 100m time sub-11.25 Bill Belichick will bring him in to see how well Symmonds runs five yard slant routes.
LMFAO there is absolutely no way that was 11.48, even less RT and even with the hurricane at his back.
It would be lucky if it was 12.48, and you know what? It probably wasn't even THAT fast.
This is completely ridiculous. COMPLETELY.
Like he said, "waddle 14 seconds for a hundred meters today".
12.8-13.2 seconds, more like it. But at least he was honest about it.
And by 12.8-13.2, I'm talking with no RT. That was laughable, worth 13.5-14.0 FAT. But laughable it was supposed to be.
Only distance types would take this even remotely seriously.
As he looks right now, I would give him a 12.5 FAT best if he trained for the 100m for a few months, and with zero wind.
Maybe. :)
Like I have told distance runners here before: if you really want to know your 100 time, get in a real 100m FAT race, with a wind gauge, and let us know. There is no substitute.
I have many times variously thought I was faster than I was. All the time, in fact. And many were supported by various types of timing devices, often operated by real coaches. And no, I don't just underperform come race time!
100m FAT with proper wind gauge setup and a real timing crew. DO IT, it's great fun, and won't kill your body. You have nothing to lose except delusions!
My guesses are:
The 100m time is real, but with a 5m running start because of the timing system he is using activates when you cross it, and he ran with a tailwind.
OR the above are true and he only ran 90-95m.
I am guessing symmonds plans on doing a number of FAT meets as it obviously won't count without it, so we'll get our answer when he does those.
Actually after watching the video more closely it does look like its a full 100m. But you can see that the wind is blowing pretty hard in the direction they decided to run, so I'm guessing they got a significant tailwind.
Take out the reaction time and give them ~2 steps of a running start that they had and 11.48 is certainly believable. Which is the time he posted.
I respect your opinion that it is believable, but I prefer my own opinion, having seen thousands of sprinters do thousands of races, and having done it myself for decades. You will recall that I nailed my prediction of Farah’s 100m.
Even in a hurricane like they had, even minus RT, you need some explosiveness to go 11.48. Symmonds has none. Not only that, his form is awful, from start to finish. Not only that, no phases. Etc.
Anyway, is he actually trying to see how fast he is in the 100m? Somewhere in days gone by, I waxed at length about what I thought he could do in the 100m. I will try to find it and link to it, so that you can roast me when I’m proven wrong :)
Actually I opined about his 200m prospects:
“Looking at him from a sprinter's perspective, there is NO WAY he could ever go 21.xx FAT from blocks.
No way.
21.99 hand timed with a flying start, maybe.”
As far as his 100m is concerned, I would guess he could go 11.80-12.20 FAT from blocks, basic, after some training.
Is he really doing this? Did he also do a thon?
Just saw he did a 3-hr thon off 25 mi/wk., which is great IMO. He is probably better-suited for that, than he is for 100m from the blocks.
He makes the same mistakes in the first 60 that he did when he was at his peak.
He definitely left some on the table. He's still strong, but his weight doesn't allow for longevity over 800m. Or maybe it does.
The question is...
What did Rojo have it timed at?

You're suggesting he faked the free lap data? Why would he do that? Let's be honest, 11.48 without the reaction time isnt somethint to brag about, so why would he fake it?
I ran 11.4 FAT, I was also a distance runner in college who decided to mess with sprints after college. I always noticed I looked really slow compared to mediocre sprinters running the same times as me.
Anyway, again, why would he fake his time?
He is probably 11.8 FAT right now with a legal wind, that wind looked mostly sideways, but just a bit behind them.
He has created buzz about this...a Symmonds win
Since he's apparently going to try some FAT 100m race this year, I'm not going to entertain any of this. The proof will be in the pudding, one way or another.
BTW I wish him all the luck in the world, the 100m can be fun.

He's been 'training' for it for like a month now or so. Got Jimmy Radcliffe to coach him, but who knows how seriously hes taking it as he only posts one workout vid a week. His goal is to break 11, which is obviously not happening, but I think ~11.5 is doable if he takes it seriously.
I also believe his 11.48 (illegal wind, no reaction time, two step rolling start) is certainly believable. Would be tough and annoying to even bother faking the free lap timing data he used. Obviously it's possible he faked it, but I doubt it. But I am looking forward to him doing some real FAT 100m races as I hate this argument that just because some people have seen some sketchy hand times in their day, that everyone will run like 2 seconds slower than their hand times.
Geezer you were missing from the forums for a long while, good to see you back. None of the rest of us have any clue about sprinting here....
Symmonds did some 40 yard dash time trials 3 weeks ago, barefoot on an indoor field. He set up his electric timers 1 yard ahead of where he started, but he was acting like his 40 times were legit.
So I'm not sure if we'll ever see him post an actual no running start 100 meter time.
He's admitted he wasn't a good sprinter when he was young, so I think the sub-11 second 100 meter is never going to happen for him.
