I would say that runner a 400 in a single digit number of seconds is out of the question for most.

Wrong. Again. The latest scientific evidence on Neanderthals were that they lived in heavily forested snow-bound areas, which precluded running after prey. They apparently used their weapons in close ambush - but not throwing. As the climate changed, the environment became more open with grassland.
So now we are blaming Neanderthals for climate change???
none of them knew what a meter was........ wrote:

Only a Neanderthal would conclude they brought about the end of the last ice age.
I would say they were more endomorphic if you eant to go that route. They were short, stocky, fast twitch dominant, fat gaining beasts. Just like an endomorph, or an endo/meso more specifically. Think someone like Mike Tyson or Igor Vovchanchyn. Look at people like Eddie Hall or Brian Shaw, endomorphs have the most robust modern body (when trained anyways)
uhh, no. The reason west africa is better at sprinting is because diseases like malaria were rampant moreso than the rest of the world. Type II muscle fibers are anaerobic and so africans dont require as much blood
No idea in regard to the 400m ,but about 4:52:8x for the 1600m
Exactly, malaria makes you super fast.
Yeah, they were bad at covering ground generally. They thrived during a time when the part of Europe where they lived was dense forest. They did a lot (most?) of their hunting by ambushing large animals from behind trees. As the climate changed and plains opened up, modern humans were better equipped to follow animal herds, chase game, etc.
My 23 and me recently sent me something stating I am a small part Neanderthal, so I'll take this.
Pretty slow due to my distance related running preference.
Besides, meters weren't invented when my relatives were knuckle dragging back in the day.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
