The real question is will Kejelcha still be in one piece come Doha?

World champs are 6+ months away. He’ll be totally fine.

let's get a high school coach out there to get his 1600m time too - could be fasillyty record
If those are the choices, clearly crazy. Salazar, if nothing else, must really be messing with Kejelcha's head. Twice he's called world records, the second time he didn't even win the race. Now, he's doubling down, two records in the same race.

Salazar has a serious personality disorder which is being projected on his athletes. If one, or both records are achieved the fanboys will proclaim "genius". If not they'll still be swinging from AlSals jock, regardless of the impact on Kejelcha.
I think Kejecha is prime for both WRs'. I just hope AlSal doesn't turn him into another rupp along the way.
Yes getting multiple Olympic medals would be such a disappointment.
I think he did just fine with Rupp, American record, Olympic medals in two events. Those results weren’t expected when they got together, Rupp was just another bright hope on the horizon. I’ll reserve judgment on AlSals impact on Kejelcha until the end of a season with the goals of 5k world record and World champs gold.

Salazar is of course a great coach. But I don`t think Kejelcha is "The chosen one" . He doesn`t seem to have that extra "killer instinct" when it comes to a sprint finish as usual in an international championship race. I think Jacob Ingebrigtsen will be that chosen one……

I took that post to mean that while Rupp has done well, I think Salazar made Rupp too dependent on him or too controlled. What comes to my mind immediately was when Rupp was starting his indoor season, had a bad race (3000 I believe?) and then pulled the plug on the rest of the season. Rupp has done extremely well. But I don't get that killer instinct from him.

My reaction: This is probably just talking up the event to get bums in seats, eyes on screens. The article does include a link to the live webcast. The more viewers the better. And a potential double world record may just catch the main stream media's attention.

The second FAT gate will have earned its keep, even if Kejelcha runs the mile faster than 1500m record pace (3:41.02). Ie, this would not guarantee any 1500m segment was under 3:26.00

Then logically you think either Kejelcha has no chance, or that 1500 and mile records that can be broken in the same race aren't soft.
Review the discussion about why that is so hard to do.
Not Salazar’s fault Kejelcha doesn’t have a killer instinct.
For some reason people look at Jacob and see someone who won the 1500m and 5000m at the Euro championships and I see someone who finished 2nd and 3rd in those events at the World Juniors.
Which is it, had a bad race or did extremely well. If Rupp was injured or a mistake had been made in training, it would be reasonable to cut the season short, indoor isn't a priority for Rupp.

Who finished 4th in world juniors 5000?
