Feel a little bump coming through, on you...
Giving Vin a pass because of a weak whistleblower system is letting him off far too easily. With his stature in the sport, he has access to the ultimate whistleblowing tool - the press - and he could have blown up the board in one press conference, if he truly stood for transparency and honest dealings. Instead, as Drainthe... posts above, Vin himself participated in the backroom dealing, said nothing at the time, and only complained later when he himself didn’t benefit from it. So Vin is no better when it comes to honor or morality than the board members routinely pilloried by you. This makes him unfit for a major leadership position. Btw, in most large companies, seeing or knowing about something wrong and following along or not doing something about it will usually get you severely disciplined, if not fired. The fact that he’d make an otherwise great chairman (which I agree with, btw) really isn’t relevant.
Vin is a boob.
The idea that releasing this information sooner would have "blown up the board" shows a poor understanding of the bylaws of USATF.
I assume he meant it would have "blown up the board" due to pressure from membership. I certainly cannot support any of the people mentioned in these backdoor dealings, they are really against the spirit of representation for the members elected by the members.
Members of the USATF, we voted for a president to lead USATF and the sport of Track and Field in USA. With your votes you made a statement to the Board of USATF about the future and the direction you want for the sport. Our voices and our votes have to be heard and our choice fulfilled. Action needs to be taken. We voted for a president based on his ability to lead, his demonstrated success at all levels of the sport and his ability to have positive impact on Track and Field. Yet, the board continues to ignore our rights, they continue to ignore the By-laws of governance. Refusing the President, as selected by us, the USATF members, in direct contradiction of the By-Laws of the USATF. As a non-profit organization by not following our own By-Laws do we put ourselves in jeopardy? We need action. Put our voted for President in office. We need leaders who are going to make positive changes in the sport, we voted Vin Lananna as part of the organization to fulfill the duties as President of USATF.
What needs to be done to have our voted USATF president lead? What are the reasons for the USATF to not follow their own rules? According to “Let’s Run” in an article dated February 18th, 2018 USATF board chair Steve Miller said in the press release, “USATF has no reason to believe TrackTown and/or Mr. Lananna have done anything wrong and understand that they have been told that they are not a target of the investigation.” Then, by Steve Miller’s own words, since Mr. Lananna has done no wrong and is not the target on any investigation. Put the elected president in his role and allow him to work on our behalf. We voted. He won. He is our choice.

Why did this take so long? Who wrestled the power away in the first place?
Yippee!
Move the 2021 WC to Charlottesville!
What powers does the USATF president have that don't depend on the concurrence of the board? Can the board go around him and make him a figurehead? This drama may be far from over.
Check the front page: "immediately" doesn't start with two i's. This is why I always use adblock here-can't support this nonsense
It would be great if every Board member that voted against Vin be removed from office and banned from holding any future USATF position.
For one, it is obvious that you have a personal role in this situation. Your language is one of spite and contentment. It also feels like the mention of black and white is one of a subtle misdirection.
We need men/women in positions of power outside of USATF (which runs the risk of becoming ignored). The roles in USATF need to be restructured. All of these people in positions of power who attempted to extend terms and manipulate people need to be fired and should probably run for another office.
Just my thoughts. We are tired of this nonsense.
There is no conflict of interest. The USATF position is volunteer. Do you want some non employed person, who will take bribes from every interested party in that position. Grow up!
And neutered!
Absolute Power, Absolutely Corrupts
This still isn't likely to bring anyone down from their Hightower I mean ivory tower.
Grab your popcorn, though. It should be a wild ride.
How important can this Presidential role be if USATF went all this time without?
How can Vin be this important while having a full time position (Director of Track/XC and Associate AD) at University of Virginia?
It’s hilarious to see all the butt kissers on twitter and Instagram hailing Vin’s glorious return to “power”.
We had a tremendous performance at Worlds this fall, due to THE ATHLETES and their personal coaches and support systems.
Vin, Hightower, Chaplin, Miller, etc are all exactly the same. A bunch of people with nothing else to do but politic an unbelievably dysfunctional organization.
Clarification from someone? wrote:

Thanks, Mrs. Siegle for the input.
Does this mean Vin leaves UVA? Can this years signed recruits get out of their LOI?

It's a volunteer position, not a staff position. Vin isn't going anywhere. We look forward to bringing home NCAA championships under Vin.
LOIs commit a recruit to a school, not to a coach. It says this explicitly on the paperwork.
