BTW - Congrats on having your high school 10k record!
Pathetic compared to Haile I may have been, but my HS PRs are MUCH faster than yours. Your school does not a 10k record you say? That's right, it doesn't. Someone there would have to have finished on for that to be the case. At my school there could be 4 guys on a given weekend trying to break it.
Your objection is probably not the recruiting accusation. This thread is full of them. Many posters seem to suspect the Hunters of walking up to opposing school's runners at meets to chat them up or something. I suspect no such thing. Their recruiting is done within their school district, as I point out.
Your objection seems to be the fact that I did not run for my high school track team. Why should I have? What did they have to offer? Their was no free shoe sponsorship or such as you may find in NCAA. I was competing against runners in their 20s and 30s. I didn't make the pond shallower so that I would stand out more. What must be the primary offending point is that you think that teenage runners, especially decent ones as I was, MUST run with school colors. I have no beef with the fact that you do/did or that every single kid at Valley who can run a mile without stopping does too. However, you have an issue with me not doing so. Oh well, can't make them all happy!
